Mods which don't harm re-sale
@ebm  "This" will. What is "this"? A number of different mods have been mentioned. If you have advice, can you be specific and possibly explain?
Mods which don't harm re-sale
Good answers. I'm not a flipper, but I know that after a time, one might want a new and better piece of gear and that at least not *tanking* the resale value makes sense. Maybe there are not that many dollars involved, overall, but I have friends ...
What is the average life expectancy of a DAC?
@jjss49 I just read the stereophile review of the magic brick and they argue it works. I’m sure the tongue implanted in the cheek of the marketer who named this product is still lodged there! I’m not being snarky -- I do believe vibration control ...
Stirring Up Trouble
So who’s right? Perhaps more importantly, what would the current state of acoustic science and brain science say is right?Happily, they both are. The explanation has been a part of both fields for decades. Two observers simply do not experience so...
Bass management -- the trick of putting absorbers at a front null
@oldhvymec  I understand better now, thanks. I found it easy to follow the first time, so I was unclear about what you meant. Apologies and regards.
Bass management -- the trick of putting absorbers at a front null
@oldhvymec If you watch a bit more of the video, you'll see he's not suggesting such a simplistic solution. He's pointing to a fact about acoustics which, combine with a variety of other techniques -- in some rooms, not all -- can help mitigate pr...
Burned Out
+1 jperryI have paid a bit extra to get tested tubes with dealers who stand behind them. I've had flawless luck with Jim McShane, Brent Jesse, and Vintage Tube Services (Andy). Good advice, MC. Little odd it has to conclude with yet another plug f...
Bass management -- the trick of putting absorbers at a front null
Thanks, Erik. I'll take a look, but the problem is that my room's irregular shape and non-hermetic situation makes it impossible to put into these room simulators. I use REW a lot but it's as much a systematic try-and-see and try-and-listen approach.
Bass management -- the trick of putting absorbers at a front null
Thanks, Rego. I will message you if I am buried under traps! When you say, "The idea is that a frictional absorber necessarily is placed away from a wall ... not always very practical."I know that frictional absorbers are placed away from walls --...
Bass management -- the trick of putting absorbers at a front null
Thanks, Erik -- good to have that reality check -- "a combination of traps, placement of sub and listener AND EQ."I've figured out placement of listener and speakers, and am trying to dial the room in now with traps and, to a degree, a single sub....
Bass management -- the trick of putting absorbers at a front null
Thanks, Erik. Since I last posted about traps, etc. I was able to find someone locally who was literally giving away their traps to any local audiophile who was interested. I scored 14 traps in all, including stuff from GIK. I'm just not quite mak...
Bass management -- the trick of putting absorbers at a front null
He explains what he means in the clip or perhaps shortly before. Thanks for the link to your post. I'll take a look.
Anyone have the Answer?
Great answers, here, mostly! I had the same question.
Vanatoo speakers - should I get them for hifi sound?

Are there any other cheaper options for power regeneration than PS Audio
I've followed this topic a bit on forums, and one comment which recurs is that the difference a regenerator will make would depend very much on how noisy your line is to begin with. Good thread here: https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?PHPSESSID...
