Raise your acoustic panels or die
@erik_squires I agree that all dimensions really must be tried. I’m curious if you’ve investigated different stands for your panels. I have found that some panels need to be raised off the floor and kept away from the walls a bit. Have you purchas...
Ready, set, comment! Speaker cables don’t make a difference?
@stevewharton what’s important here extends beyond the subject matter itself and more about the abundance of irresponsible misinformation....We’ve got various paper tigers and YouTube alleged industry experts, that are somewhere between an audioph...
Finally found a space for the speakers I’ve been storing... and I don’t love them any more
Clearly you need Tekton speakers and please call Dave at Raven audio. A lot of people will tell you something else, but these are your only options if you're not an idiot.Oh wait-- I just came back to my body. Please disregard previous advice. All ...
Raise your acoustic panels or die
@erik_squires Thanks for the suggestion, Erik. I have been moving a lot of things around and mostly attending to frequency response. To place traps, I listened and measured around the room, and located traps where the peaks are highest. In some pl...

Wow, for a boring topic that’s been beat to death and certainly does not deserve a single word more or a second of anyone’s time -- there are a lot of responses here. Did anyone post a comment at Audioholics? What kind of response did you get? (Be...

@sgreg1 Great answer on the economics basically preventing any conclusion for home theater except the one he gives. I wonder how much of my brain attends to the sound during movies -- I listen differently and of course my attention is largely focu...

Some continue to think this is rehashing a topic done to death, here. That's not what this post is doing. The idea is not to convince the measure fanatics or the die-hard Gene acolytes -- no point in that -- but to put into a public forum some of ...

@akg_ca I was certainly not starting yet another debate about cables. If you look at my original post you will see that I was alerting members that there was a video about cables on another channel about to happen. I presented that information in ...

@millercarbon said,There’s no controversy. There’s only people who know, and people with head stuck deep in sand. Look around, this is the case with everything. Situation normal.Right. There are the illuminati and there is everyone else.My point i...
Jazz listening: Is it about the music? Or is it about the sound?
@mijostyn sound quality and the music itself are both examples of the aesthetic and become purely a matter of taste.Excellent point. I do think taste is more objective than that famous quote intends, as we have so many points on which we agree and...
What do you have on order RIGHT NOW.
Doing an 11.1 home theater setup with some MBL speakers. Guy on Craigslist will drop off between 9-11 am tomorrow.

Very revealing, @jperry ! It makes helps us all reach this state.
Jazz listening: Is it about the music? Or is it about the sound?
Is sex about the sensations and release? Or about the communication, intimacy, closeness? Is food about the interesting textures and flavors and how they're put together? Or is it about the emotional and physical satisfaction that results? Are movie...
Is the appeal to euphonic distortion learned?
The question of the OP was both scientific and biographical. The best scientific answer to “is euphonic sound enjoyed because it’s learned?” — IMO came from atmasphere. Other more autobiographical answers to the question were really interesting......
