You want a DAC that sounds *different.* What factor helps you find it? @jjss49 This is very helpful. Thanks. I suspect I am seeking out difference (not upgrade, necessarily) but as you're articulating, it is a complex quest which not likely to be effectuated (as is my tendency, qua audiophile) with a simple purchase....
You want a DAC that sounds *different.* What factor helps you find it? @tvad @bigkidz @ghdprentice Thanks for your replies detailing how overall implementation is the only thing which makes a DAC sound different. So many threads focus on this or that chip or other single factors responsible for achieving something i...
You want a DAC that sounds *different.* What factor helps you find it? Great answers! Many factors I had not thought of. A lot of these factors seem to be of the "What makes a DAC sound great" variety. I suppose I'm especially interested in the "What makes a DAC sound *different*?" In other words, assuming I had a ...
Raising Subs? @secretguy Thanks. There are bass nodes which are vertical as well as horizontal in the room. Harder to affect with subs, but if it's the silver bullet...
Why aren’t there many used cables on the market? I've purchased all my cables used. I have no idea what the OP is talking about.
Reviews - Your Pet Peaves +1 @mlsstl It's very hard to figure out what someone else is hearing -- not only because of differences in equipment and room but because of the vague vocabulary involved. Reading reviews both before and after are part of the intellectual quest i...

What measurements from the rear wall? FYI, OP. "Front wall" is the more common label for the wall behind the speakers.
Ribbon Cables vs. Standard I mentioned factors capable of affecting the overall sound. Factors which might completely overwhelm or seriously change what's contributed by whatever cable is mentioned. Your response? Make fun of my question by comparing them to factors like t...
Ribbon Cables vs. Standard Without requesting, also, a variety of control factors (gear, room dimensions and materials, audio tracks played, etc.) how could any opinions gathered here be of much use, besides entertainment? Yes, that's a rhetorical question.
Amplifier recommendation Quicksilvers are mono blocks, mostly. I love mine, but you asked for a stereo tube amp, no? How about Aric? https://aricaudio.com/products.php?product=TRASNDKTSE https://aricaudio.com/products.php?product=TRCDPP https://aricaudio.com/products.php...
Upgrade Internal DAC of Node or go with Atoll ST120. I have had excellent results sending the BS Node to an external DAC. Having separates has also allowed me to try different DAC's (e.g. the Denafrips Ares) and that has been fun. I had an Atoll but it was an integrated amp with no DAC. They make go...
Break in time necessary and if so how long for Dynaudio Heritage Special ? I always hook up speakers out of phase and play them continuously with pink noise for many hours, even days. That should help cut the time down.
Atma-Sphere Class D… Amazing Do Class D amps need "break in"? @atmasphere What do you think?
Zu Audio Dirty Weekend 6 starts tomorrow 09/01/22 I'd be curious to hear these with a lower powered tube amp. In my space, with solid state, I'd expect them to sound "shouty." |
