Is this the END of DAYS for the high end CD player
The record companies would rather you purchase the music online.I think they could profit a lot more by not making CD's,getting stores to sell it,and the list can go on and on,by eliminating anything that will take away from their new, direct profit.
What makes the Bloom around instruments . . .
Bloom cannot accurately describe a drum or cymbal's.So it can't be used for all instruments.
What makes the Bloom around instruments . . .
When an audio product can't separate each individual instrument, singer,or other from each other, that would be the opposite of being articulated. When your system and recording is highly articulated, you should be able to identify everything separate...
Is this the END of DAYS for the high end CD player
I haven't shopped for a CD there in a long time.I do remember that they didn't have a couple of the ones I wanted.A friend keeps buying them off of the net,and he calls me and asks if Iwant any,and I do let him get them.He says I wont have to pay ...
Is this the END of DAYS for the high end CD player
Someone that has a son that manages a Best Buy store said,BB plans on getting rid of all CD's within the next two years. If this happens,it may kill a lot of player production,or all of it.These big box stores helped put out of business, the record...

Pardon the night grammar.
What makes the Bloom around instruments . . .
I grew up in the tube days, and there are descriptive words that are being used now, that's different from what I've learned. The best way that I know of on how to describe a lot of these words that are used,is to have two different amps, one that has...
What makes the Bloom around instruments . . .
I would say that it has to be captured in the recording too.An amp can't make it if it isn't there,in the recording. With a good recording, then the amp and speakers and rest of the system has to be able to reproduce it.Over the decades in this hobb...
Can you overpower a speaker
Let me ad this.I should have also said to much power can fry your speakers to.Not just to little power.Again, keeping the volume set where you don't get any distortion,or other sounds coming out of your speakers, that sound wrong when you start play...
Vibration Theory - Isolate or Drain?
I go with the ones that say coupling could be good or bad. Sometimes the shelf could vibrate more, and cause more problems.Coupling to something with more mass,or isolation, may help.I think it's situation dependent.
Can you overpower a speaker
I haven't heard an amp in bridge mode sound as good as it doesin its normal mode. Then there's the other minus like Stanwal brought up.An amp that could run at 4 ohms continuous, will only be capable of 8 ohms continuous,in bridged mode.As far as ha...

A lot of today's A/V receivers don't have the current those 901's took to drive.A stereo receiver may do the job. Something stereo, with a lot of watts may do better than the new A/V receivers.Plus the remote.Double check everything she has hooked...
Tubes to Watts Ratio
I think its the design choice also.Sometimes, tubes sound better being pushed hard, other times, the opposite. If I didn't need the extra power,I'd lean toward the cooler, lower wattage one,if it sounded the same.I think four EL34's would give abound 3...
Marantz 10b hum
I agree.Even with the age of the tuner, its surprising how longsome of the gear from then lasted.I'd check the tubes first also.
Cartridge life really only 3 years??
It was nice when we had the brick and mortar stores. The best one in my area retired, and didn't do much in home theater. People that didn't even buy anything from him, used to bring their stylus by for him to check it under the scope. He was the last...
