HT and two channel receiver recommendation
Just from hearing these in the past three years, but not sure of model numbers at the big box type of stores, I'd lead toward the Onkyo. They seem more musical than the Denon (Denon could get offensive), and more pleasant in the highs. Then maybe ...
Sagging Voice Coils?
Rodman, if your referring to me, the woofer cone is pulling on the spider causing the distortion in its (spider) shape. If there was no cone weight on it, I doubt the spider would sag in its lifetime. The midrange and tweeter with their light cone...
Sagging Voice Coils?
Step six in this talks about sag in older drivers. I don't think it's their imagination, or something they dreamed up.[http://www.decware.com/newsite/refoam.htm]
Sagging Voice Coils?
If you check the net, there are a lot of people that heard what they describe as buzzing and was told to rotate their woofers, and they had good results after doing it.
Sagging Voice Coils?
This isn't a theory, it's a fact. It's not like a cable type of discussion where people have different results, without any measurements to back it up. It's just like people put their classic cars on blocks to keep the springs from sagging. The sp...
Why do NOS Tubes sound better than new tubes?
They kept the machine for several decades so tube quality at the end of the machines life was relatively poor.Could explain why there are so many complaints about new records people have to keep returning.
Why do NOS Tubes sound better than new tubes?
This was posted recently. You could see in the old videos how much they tried for quality. [http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?aamps&1314237934&openusid&zzHifihvn&4&&]
Sagging Voice Coils?
These were built in the '90s, and they knew about the sag problem then. [http://www.roger-russell.com/xl1w.htm]
Heaven or Hell
Listening fatigue from digital, mind , and possibly your power from utility. I don't seem to have this problem. I'm an audioholic.

Is no preamp the best preamp of all?
It doesn't always work this way, otherwise you'd see most everyone here doing it. Even the ones that spend over 500k for their system.
Sagging Voice Coils?
Yes, the talk on the net is for real. They used that dope on midranges and maybe even tweeters. Some said it also was for dampening. It always seems to stay shiny and new looking. The talk about the voice coil rubbing happens too. I don't recall th...
I NEED a tone control to control bass.
When I was in an apartment in those school days, isolation did work wonders for the neighbors below. Breaking that solid contact does a lot more than we think sometimes since we're in the listening area, not the area that wants silence.
Separate volume controls for left & right channels
Some did/do it like they used to in the early stereo days where they were stacked them (volume), on the same shaft with split knob. If they had good friction it worked good, except in some cases when you turned it all the way down, one channel sti...
Any cable experts online?? Whose cables are these?
Where the light is reflecting off of the back of them in photo #1, it makes them look either braided, or shielded. Then in the second photo, it looks like a wire in spiral wrapped around them, at least to me. I have a headphone extension cable I b...
