!!!OK OK - I'm Big Enough To Admit I Was DEAD WRONG!!! Class D Doesn't Always Suck!!!
Class D "sucks" just as often as class A, class A/B, so on and so forth. It's about design and implementation. This is similar to the vinyl/CD/streaming conversation - no universally "right" answer.

Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 Resurrection
The Abbado CSO on vinyl is part of the latest batch of Deutsche Grammophon's Original Source Series. I haven't heard it but everything I've purchased from this series so far has been phenomenal. It might capture the magic of the CD version @mahler...
What artists can you not get enough of?
@slaw You're the One?   That album and Freedom Highway are spun regularly in our house. She's fantastic. We had a chance to see The Carolina Chocolate Drops back in the day and boy do I wish they'd tour as a group again.
Dedicated headphone amp vs Headphone socket on amp
@mahgister,  I use a Sanui Six receiver to power a pair of Stax SR-Lamdas (manufactured in 1978!) that have been my daily drivers for over four decades. They are easily the longest lasting gear in my system and I live in constant fear of them dyi...
GaN FET Amps vs. Traditional Class D Amps
I've been using a Classe CA-D200 class D amp for years.  I don't know which "type" it is, but I've been very happy with it in my main system.  I admit I haven't auditioned anything else in a long long time (I was using a B&K amp before the Cla...
Favorite Song Lyrics of All Time. What Say You?
Joni Mitchell - Woman of Heart and Mind You know the times you impress me most Are the times when you don't try When you don't even try...   Pink Floyd - Time Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain And you are young a...
What Meatloaf and Beer Have Taught me about Audiophiles
@cleeds Thanks, I was aware of that but took artistic license for the sake of humor.
What Meatloaf and Beer Have Taught me about Audiophiles
Love meatloaf, both the overblown singer and the foodstuff. I will be trying the chipotle tweak the next time I whip up a loaf.
a rant
I've listened to demos of the Baach products on three separate occasions, and was thoroughly unimpressed each time. It just sounds phasey and overly processed to me, not natural at all. I have not met or spoken to anyone else who wasn't completel...
Natalie Merchant - Leave Your Sleep
If you haven't already done so, check out her most recent (2023) album Keep Your Courage - really great music and fantastic sound. I have the record, but it sounds excellent in the streaming realm as well.  On Leave Your Sleep, I've used the trac...
Does loudness play a part in your appreciation?
litter?
Does loudness play a part in your appreciation?
I usually listen at levels between 75-85db, sitting back about 90 inches from the speakers. I might turn a Mahler symphony up a litter more than that, but generally I find around 80db sounds great. I'm using ESLs (ML 11a) as well. It took some wor...
Durable record vacuum cleaner recommendation?
I've been using my VPI 16.5 for thirty years, average 10-15 records a week.  The only thing I've had to change were the plastic pickup tube (I use three separate ones for each cleaning stage). I generally change them out every six months or so.
The Sacred Ritual of Vinyl: A Return to Mindful Listening
This is very well written and for me at least, accurate to the word.  I actually DO enjoy going out into the world to acquire new music, that's where the people are! I believe we are losing our humanity bit by bit (see what I did there) because we...
