Why do I need power management if I have a great power cord?
+1 hilde45 The video comparison with "black background" rings true. Same principle applies in framing pictures. Or plant a rose garden in an empty lot -- you may think it looks fine until you surround it with a hedge of dark yews. Now you see what...
Schiit Freya + Class A in Stereophile
@brunomarcs I have intended doing just the same, upgrading from Freya+ to the RP-7 or even the RP-9. Though I am not sure the dealer's trial period really allows enough time for a full A/B workout. Sounds like you have bought the Rogue for better ...
What stereo equipment do respected musicians listen to?
All the musicians I know and have known are/were indifferent to audiophile notions of "high fidelity." They inhabit the world of actual music, not our world of sound reproduction. A different realm. Audiophiles encourage one another to "enjoy the ...
Feel free to talk me off the ledge
About speakers being most important: it depends.  For years I upgraded electronics while keeping the same speakers. When I finally got some loose change, upgraded the speakers by an order of magnitude and at last discovered how just good my amp a...
Feel free to talk me off the ledge
What they all said! No system is built in a day or a month or a year or a decade, and most are forever works in progress. It's a journey, not a destination. Read gdhprentice, then buckle up and take the ride.
A Suggestion Regarding Removal Of Posts
Those above, thank you for this information.
A Suggestion Regarding Removal Of Posts
Not censorship, true. But then neither is it a forum when the rules of participation are kept secret and then enforced without explanation by arbitrary whim.
A Suggestion Regarding Removal Of Posts
Ignorance is bliss. I have no idea how/when/why/by whom posts or threads are removed, or can be removed. Only that they sometimes are removed, thereby nullifying whatever value they may have had. Spam, okay, in an abundance of caution. But abuse, ...
Review of Rogue Audio RP-9 preamp
@gakerty please report when you have auditioned RP9 upgrade. I too use the Legacy Signature SEs (with a dual-firing sub for octave 0). Really missing some openness and sparkle in octave 6 and above, and would much rather upgrade preamp than speake...
Survey on Cost of Loudspeakers Supported On Townshend Seismic Isolation Podiums
A point raised but not answered: irrespective of speakers used, who has upgraded from Gaia feet to Townshend podiums (or bars), and with how much improvement? Gaias are designed to allow movement on one axis, but to arrest it on  the other.
Your single most significant purchase mistake?
@cleeds & other Aurender N100H folks: I have had similar troubles, although to date Ari has got me back & running. Question: knowing this will be just a temporary component on my digital side, WITH WHAT DID YOU REPLACE the N100H?
How many systems do you have?
Four. Music room, entry room, television, computer.
How long ago did you catch the bug?
Father was a vocalist, his grandfather a fiddler. Mother played piano despite being tone-deaf and hostile to rock, while her mother, the fun one, reminded people of Mae West and Lillian Russell, was a huge fan of Little Richard, Jerry Lee, Liberac...
Schiit Freya plus preamp , very impressive preamps?
In a holding pattern with Freya+ myself for 2 years now. For all the reasons cited plus the incredible functionality, so many inputs. We know going in the SQ can't achieve the bloom and detail of $5k+ tube preamps. (Not to mention soundstage, whic...
Bi-wire speakers and bi-wire cables?
No harm in bi-wiring leaving jumper attached? Wish others would weigh in on this. Legacy, for one, says remove jumper if bi-wiring, not sure why.  Seems intuitively if the jumper passes electrons differently yet simultaneously, sonic muddle would ...
