Schiit's solid-state 6SN7 @dekay thanks for sharing
Schiit's solid-state 6SN7 @harpo75, no doubt you're right. Although one can get JJs and the superior Tung-Sol 6SN7s (whose price has more than doubled in six months), it's a struggle finding NOS or Electro Harmonix (now PSVane). I have been sent dud tubes from two differen...
Lumin U2 Mini OP, I tried the Lumin U2 Mini for a while but found the app difficult to use. Switched to the most affordable Aurender (N100) and never looked back. App is more user-friendly and sound quality superior in most ways. I've yet to hear of an Aurender...
Can anyone tell me where the progress in audio went? So the demo track proves they could do the rhythm section. What about soundstage? Vocal/instrumental positioning? Air? Banging, much as I love it, hardly provides a convincing demonstration.
Looking for a preamp with XLR connections Rogue RP-9.Fully balanced, $7500, and uses the same tubes as ARC LS28SE.
Which would you choose for good sounding tube preamp for an audiophile new to tubes. If OP's budget were in the ARC Reference range, he would already have bought it and not bothered asking the question. And he wouldn't be pairing it with that amp!
New High End Audio Dealer in Midwest @blisshifi Will advise next time headed your way. Need to determine how far up the Aurender line I may need to go for the right fit. No urgency; Summer 2023 is the likely time.
New High End Audio Dealer in Midwest Hope you are able to open a showroom in the near future. As you know, many sizable midwestern cities have none at all these days. Minneapolis is within reasonable driving distance for me. Best wishes for new success in this old-fashion business.
Uneven room dimensions/reflections = uneven toe in as solution? @m669326 Got exactly the same problem here, and trying the same solutions. Asymmetrical toe-in helps, and is not a deal-breaker to my eyes. Agree that adding EQ/balance control and room treatment can get you near what you might hear in an optimal ...
Qobuz or Apple Music? This is a recurring question with the usual answers. Qobuz got me off Tidal for good (hated MQA and other features). Still have an enormous Apple Music library of less challenging recordings which I can also play via Qobuz for SQ comparison.
No love for Tannoy Definition subs @yakbob You're right; I had a spell of the ditzies. Drivers are only 12" after all. Just knew they were bigger than my mains, which I mistakenly remembered as 12" rather than their actual 10". So at least they're not ill-regarded, just rare. Se...
No love for Tannoy Definition subs Legacy tech guru advised me to let the towers run full-range with no high pass. They have a peak at 35Hz and fall off steeply below 32Hz. So I set the sub cross at 31Hz with -24db/oct descent above that point. Basically sub is just picking up octa...
No love for Tannoy Definition subs Thanks for the good news. EQ and room treatment just happened to be my two highest priorities, so will accelerate the timetable on those and meanwhile learn more about measurement & download the room simulator tool right away. Actually I have...
STREAMING - QOBUZ VS TIDAL AND ROON'S PREFERENCES @lordrootman Thanks for the link re Apple Music transfer app. Eager to try it.
STREAMING - QOBUZ VS TIDAL AND ROON'S PREFERENCES Infuriated by MQA two years ago, I switched to Qobuz from Tidal and never looked back. Agree that Apple sounds better than it's given credit for, and anyhow my old iTunes/Apple Music playlist can never be replicated. But that plays only on my back... |
