Can any stereo amp be bridged to mono ?
Well, I beg to differ. Using the technique described (making one input out of phase) will work with any amplifier. The correct terminology is actually "invert polarity of one input", not "out of phase."As for amps that are already bridged, I assum...
Can any stereo amp be bridged to mono ?
Yes, it will.
Best blues today
Are you sure about Johnny Winter and the drugs? I thought he had cleaned up. I remember reading somewhere that he is ill with a disease related to being albino. I know that albinism often leads to poor vision and blindness, which could explain why...
Help CJ premier 4 blowing fuses ??
It is usually a bad tube. Swap the tubes between channels. If the problem moves to the other channel, buy new tubes. If the problem stays in the left channel, you need a technician to repair it.It is amazing how much those fuses cost.
DVD-A, DVD-V music where to purchase?
http://www.digitaleyes.net/ has a limited selection at below retail as well as used discs. If you walk in (Nashville, TN) you can save the shipping but have to pay 9.25% TN sales tax.
resistors in series/parallel questions...
Hey Twylie, are you and TWL related? Does Twylie mean "little TWL?"
How do I set/adjust the bias on my tube amp?
I have never been 1000% percent correct before. I am very proud.CAUTION: The voltages you are dealing with are very dangerous. The following applies to typical SET circuit topology. Since I am not famliar with these amps it may not apply. There sh...
How do I set/adjust the bias on my tube amp?
There are various schemes for bias adjustment and many amps are self biasing. It really depends on the amp, not the tubes. Contact the manufacturer for their recommended procedure. Or let us know what amps you have and perhaps someone here is fami...
Polarity on the Infini cap?
A point about the idea that it should make no difference since the caps are passing an AC signal. A piece of wire could replace the cap if the only function was to pass the AC signal. Even though they are passing an AC signal, there is a differenc...
Amp and preamp impedance
For a first order high pass filter you only need a capacitor in series with the input of the amp.A typical value for the power amp input impedance would be 50K. But as stated above, typical will do you no good since they range from 10K to 100K and...
Need an advice about phono cable. RCA-RCA
I agree with TWL. There is no way a properly set up and functioning analog setup like yours can be beat by that CD player, even with lousy cables. These arms are a bit unusual to set up but are capable of excellent sound. I hate to ask a stupid que...
resistors in series/parallel questions...
The above advice is good. However, it is very unusual to have a phono preamp with an input impedance of 100K. I suppose this is correct since you have spoken to the designer. Since you have access to the designer of the preamp, why don't you talk ...
Amp and preamp impedance
I agree with the previous advice. The response of a filter is dependent on the impedance of the source and the load. I admire your DIY spirit but I think you need to do a little more research into the problem. There are many fine electronics textb...
What output is higher...?
Sorry, can't help you there. I have a Wilson Benesch set up that came as a matched set and I'm afraid I am not that knowledgable about matching arms to cartridges. If you can get seven years out of a cartridge I think you are doing pretty well
What output is higher...?
A cartridge output could decrease for several reasons. Among these:As the cartridge ages, the material used to suspended the cantilever could lose elasticity and limit the motion. This would cause a decreased output since output voltage is proport...
