Shindo and synergistic components John: I think the Vosnee Romanee preamp is balanced and is meant to be great. Maybe Bsal is right, or maybe not. You might love the combination of Shindo Pre with the the great MX-R amps - I'm sure you will. I wouldn't trade even think of trading ...
Shindo and synergistic components Jeffrey: yes on the mono, no on the dual MC (not possible). The step up will definitely be in the cards when the second arm is set up. Thanks for your help and input on this.Cheers
Unhappy with tubes so which transistor amp? HD220 will still leave you missing in 2, maybe/maybe not in 3, but it still sounds very good and is synergistic. What about trying the CJ Premier 350? The reviews say it has all that, but I haven't heard it. Just a thought.
Shindo and synergistic components I started this post b/c I was looking for a higher powered amp than Shindo makes. As Rchau correctly pointed out, the new Corton Charlemagne 80 (75wpc) solves the problem.I bought the Masseto and the Corton Charlemagne 80! Delivery in a few weeks....
Turntable lamp? They have these rechargeable, battery powered lights that look pretty good. I can't remember the name, but google it.For TTs, I like those little Japanese paper lanterns, with very low wattage bulbs.
$40.000 speaker advise. Check out my list I haven't heard them all, but I think the Strads need a very large room to do their thing. I'd personally do what Emailists recommends, find the speaker that you like best, then re-jig the system to work with them. From your list, I haven't heard m...
Koetsu cartridges - what arms work? Thanks folks. All this is very helpful.
Koetsu cartridges - what arms work? Is there anywhere that describes the characteristics of the various Koetsu cartridges James? You indicate lush for the Rosewood Signature - I saw the write-up on the Black (but that's not what I'd go for).I'm also thinking Graham Phantom arm as a ...
PC-Audio vs. High-end CD Player-GAME OVER Questions from an old school, open minded guy:So how far a run of USB cable do you have. Is there a similar issue as with analogue cables as far as runs go? Do you run an equal cable of firewire to use a dedicated hard drive?Assuming your CDs in l...
Teres, redpoint or galibier turntable I'm keen on trying those amps - seems like a tough thing to do though, even in the same city! I'll have to convince Mr. Blume to lend me his for a day. That's as objective as I can be.The old "listen for yourself" doesn't often work in practice (n...
Shindo and synergistic components Timothy: where did you try the CJ LP70 with Shindo... which pre was used? Very interesting combo. The LP70 is roughly same power as the Corton Charlemagne 80, at half the price point. A very interesting, but risky, proposition (in that I can't hea...
Shindo and synergistic components Lokie: wasn't meant to be a criticism, just include a "sigh" in front - a statement of fact indeed.I think Verity showed their product with the pyramids b/c it's new and sounds decent. They still have 50w VPAs in their own listening room (along wi...
Shindo and synergistic components LOL Timothy. I think you'll find Verity owners as being pretty satisfied and building their systems around the speakers... but hey, Shindo seems to have it's own addictive personalities. Too bad you need to fork out min $20k to get shindos to work...
Lamm, Cary and Parsifal Encore - what combo? Dennis: Just tagging along on Jman's question re how you're enjoying your amps. I'm still shopping for new electronics for my Parsifals and wondered how you went about settling on the Canary 160s? What else did you try?
Shindo and synergistic components I have, but don't want the new pyramids. Would do VPA + PMA, but that adds up to about $6k more than the Shindo option... not sure it's worth it.I'm also interested in something off the beaten track, as Nagra is the easy match I think. Great revie... |
