Looking for the best moving coil cart that is around $5K used Terry9. I'm sure your correct. Just like there's no such thing as a perfect circle. The TT has a built in strobe. It says the speed is correct and that's close enough for me. 🙂
Looking for the best moving coil cart that is around $5K used To itsjustme. I know most of u think I've lost my mind, my saying I can't hear the difference between my two TT. When first mounting my Urishi, I did find I had to increase the tone arms mass to make the cart come alive. I thought I had bought a p...
Looking for the best moving coil cart that is around $5K used To Whart and Invictus005:Thanks for your responses. I think I had dirty ears or something last night. My Urishi Black was sounding better than my XV1s and neither was sounding very good. Maybe I'm getting an ear infection.Did anyone else not re...
This is for Georgehifi especially but others can chime in. Bubba12:  I have had 2 sets of Krell mono blocks and one set of Pass Labs. I had 2 Kma 160’s a set of Pass X250’s and now have a couple of Krell EV 600’s. I liked them all.  Good class a bias and plenty of current. The KMA 160’s didn’t have enough...
Is a SUT needed? Thanks for the suggestions. I have my Rhea set at 62 on gain. Any higher and it overloads. Gain isn't the issue, noise floor is. Jperry has the the correct remedy I do believe. I'll call Andy about some tubes. I've spoken to him before-just wanted...
Low noise tube compliment for an Aesthetix Rhea? Frontier 1Did u end up solving your tube rush problem with the Rhea? I have the same set up and am looking to lower the noise floor.  I’ve been considering an SUT.  | |

How important is the rack you use for your components I have all home made bases or tables for my components. All are made of MDF. I do have four conical shaped metal devices I found made a huge improvement on my CD player. Sometimes I play cd's, which are very bass heavy and I was getting enough vib...
How NOT to sell an item on Audiogon I for one appreciate good photos of the actual component instead of stock pictures. The rest is to be taken with a grain of salt. Any smart buyer, will do their own research. | |
I think I've Just Seen Absolute Proof That Audiophiles Are Insanely Gullible I received a "stock" clamp with my VPI Scoutmaster, but have only used it a few times. My records are flat. Even my lp's from the 70's and 80's. I've used it, but can't hear a difference. And will someone please explain to me the benefits of cable...
Putting your components inbetween your speakers. I have tried many setups and have found I get the best sound with nothing in the "listening triangle."
need advice for sound improvement I built a modified QRD 13 that's 20" deep, with the verticals 3.5" wide. It broadened my soundstage and helped my bass. I placed it flush with my front wall. Hemholtz absorbers may work, or Dennis Foley has plans for an absorber I'm going to try. ...
Tinnitus - do you have ringing in the ears? What did u "say?"  I can't "hear" u due to this constant ringing in my ears. I heard magnesium would help, but it took the fidelity out of my hearing. | |
What’s in your system today that you also had 10 years ago? As far as equipment I still use, I have a Theta Miles CD player I love. I use the analog balanced outputs. I also use my 1974 Pioneer PL 71 TT, which has a Koetsu Urishi Black mounted to it. I had to increase the tonearm's mass, but it sounds as g...
For tube sound, which is more important: preamp or power amp? I agree with mofimadness. The preamp will give u the tone u want; the power amp will amplify that sound. IMO, u can't have a power amp that's too powerful. Class A bias is the way to go, if u can swing it. 600-1200 watts is good, depending on your... |
