Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
The Internet has transformed how audiophiles do things, and the 'AHEE' has had to tag along. I think Ralph is spot-on with this comment. The average audiophile is so much more informed today because of the multitude of Forums such as this one........
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Fleib,Stereoneedles may have had the foresight to corner the market on AT-155Lc styli 5 years ago when the other merchants weren't looking?Perhaps the Bluz Bros did that with the Empire styli of which they have a similarly never-ending supply?Have...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Lew,I believe it was Banquo who mentioned the military-spec TT-101.Audpulse,The AT-155LC stylus was discontinued years ago and Turntableneedles and LpGear both say that on their Website.I managed to purchase some of the last stock from LpGear and ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi Lew,Yes.....I tried the Micro Seiki Cu180 copper mat on my TT-101.....and it sounded fabulous.Solid, rhythmic bass and ethereal highs. Surely the best sound I have managed. The weight of the mat however......meant that the brake/stop function of...
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
Comparing the technology in turntables with that of cars is dubious at best? The physics and functioning of the turntable system has been pretty well understood for decades.....and in the case of idler drives and direct drives....there are few curr...

Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Dear Lewm, I just bought a malfunctioning TT101 You are one brave 'cowboy' :-)In what way(s) is it malfunctioning?I really hope that Bill Thalmann can resurrect it for you. Perhaps he may become a Victor 'guru' as well as a Technics one?Good Luck ...

Sorry....that was supposed to read LOMC below 0.2mV output.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Don,I have a similar experience with my Halcro DM-10 Preamp.Running balanced XLR Phono cables into the balanced inputs of the inbuilt phono stage gives me hum with ultra LOMCs.....below 2.0mV but no hum with high output MMs.When I run single-ended...
Question on FR 66s
Dear Nicola,I have no wish to offend a man with "simple testes".......but by having a Mint tractor specially made for your FR-64s at 231.5mm P2S distance.......you are merely having a Baerwald geometry transcribed for the new distance. You are not ...
Eminent Technology ET-2 Tonearm Owners
Hi Thekong,In a suspended reinforced concrete slab......there can be frequencies from 5-10Hz and higher. In a suspended timber-framed floor they could get up to 10-16 Hz but would not normally get as low as the concrete.Of course....the 'creaking' ...
Eminent Technology ET-2 Tonearm Owners
The most extremely test of this sort that I have seen was that, while following your initial settings, instead of jumping around the TT, you kick on its stand! This is not a test for Structure-Borne Feedback. It merely places a Dynamic (hitting) so...
Question on FR 66s
Suteetat,I know it sounds very complex and most users do not really get involved with Overhangs and Off-Set Angles. To make it easier for you....I think you can go in any of three ways:-1. Use the FR recommended P2S Distances for both FR-64 and 66 ...
Question on FR 66s
I know this Thread is about the FR-66s, but the FR-64s was introduced into the discussion and because its geometry is different to that of the FR-66s......I feel it needs some elaboration:-Recommended for FR64s: 231.5 mm P2S, 14.5 mm overhang and ...
Inner groove "Rumble"
Have you checked that the arm-lift is not touching the bottom of the arm when it reaches the end? Some arm-lifts are not truly horizontal and if adjusted so that it has minimal clearance under the arm......can actually touch the arm?
