I have always used an active MM and MC stage (all built-in) with my separate preamps and have read in the Forums and magazines about the Pros and Cons of using SUTs for LOMC cartridges instead.Usually......there are just so many varying results an...

Thuchan is a very special 'collector' of all things 'audio'.....but particularly analogue and specifically tonearms and cartridges. He has acquired a full series of Toho armtubes and has had a special Axiom tonearm made to accommodate these arm-tub...

You obviously have a underlying resentment towards all things VPI/Harry Weisfeld. So obvious is my resentment towards "...all things VPI/Harry Weisfeld" that in the thousands of my postings to 288 Threads over a 6 year period prior to this Thread.....

As far as material is concerned, isn't Continuum tonearm using similar type of material? I thought somebody even mentioned in the past that Copperhead arm may actually be the first 3D printing arm or at least used some earlier technology along 3D ...

Dear Lew,In welding......the norm is not to use 'foreign' materials but to create a homogeneous 'whole' by melting together identical materials. The strength of these welds can be designed to be identical to (or even stronger than) the two pieces ...

Sweating, brazing, threading parts do not make a one piece tonearm. But casting, welding, machining and gluing do.

Could you explain why this is a 'cynical exercise in marketing hype'? I thought I had in my first post above? But here goes again...........3D printing is perfect for complex shapes or one-off prototypes for testing or limited production items. It i...

Once again Lew.......we find ourselves in agreement.Unlike the famous Linn philosophy which attracts adherents due to a simple logic........if the speakers can't create 'magic'.........no source will compensate (IMHO of course :-))
Question on FR 66s
Thuchan has a fine collection of SPU cartridges.I suspect he uses his original Ortofon tonearm to run them?.........but I wonder how he sets their geometry and whether he has mounted them in the FR-66s?
Question on FR 66s
John,If one were to do the calculations as you suggest......with and SPU or FR-7 type of fixed headshell......surely the Off-Set angle cannot be changed?Nor can the Overhang or Effective length. The only parameter able to be changed is the Pivot to...

Dear Nikola,I would trust your 'Einstein who is not Einstein'.Besides which.......plugging and unplugging terminals and inputs keeps them nicely clean and free of tarnish and/or corrosion.
Question on FR 66s
I think Bill's method is the only rational one for use with fixed headshell cartridges like the SPUs and FR-7 types.Yes.....the off-set angles may be slightly different to the prescribed ones at the null points......but only by 1 or 2 degrees in m...

Well you're all spoilt little 'girls'.........I have 6 arms on 2 turntables with all their phono-cables (colour-coded) lying behind my phono-stage.To unplug the cables from one arm and plug in those of another takes all of 15 seconds.Flick a switc...

Hey Mab33,I notice that you own both the Technics EPC100 Mk3 and Mk4?Would you be kind enough to describe the differences as you hear them?Also....are you running the TT-101 nude or in a plinth?RegardsHenry
