High-value ICE offerings or Ayre V3, ARC 100.2
Among all the class D amps mentioned, I am by far fondest of the Bel canto Ref 1000M anmd Ref 500M monoblock. Amazingly musical devices and wonderfully resolving. My PFO review of the 1000M is at:http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue43/bel_canto_...

David, I do admit freely that there are a lot of amps with greater authority than 312. My old Rowland 7M monoblocks for example, had comfortably greater authority than 312. . . after all, 312 peaks at 40 amps for a fraction of a second, while the ...
Tubes vs. solid state.
Likewise Pinkus. . . I'd love to have your ears. . . while a direct comparison between Capri and KX-R may not be terribly meaningful, KX-R outcosting little Capri by a factor of 5, I could get the KX-R and sell JRDG Criterion. . . unfortunately I ...
Tubes vs. solid state.
Pinkus, Our tin ears must be forged from different pewter alloys. . . I have never liked KX-R, but as you know have used lovingly a Capri for a year and a half.BTW, I was not aware that feedback or lack there-of even applied to pre designs.G.
Tubes vs. solid state.
Oh shucks, I must really be tin-eared, because I have never detected any correlation between 0-feedback and the sound I like, in any amps I heard, tubed and SS alike.
Best amp to Partner with Jeff Rowland Criterion
Sorry Osvaldo for the confusion, what I meant to say is that in my system, the bass of 312 does not sound weak at all. Last night I put on Dvorak's New World Symphony under Leonard Bernstein and the Israel Philharmonic, and the initial low brass c...
Best amp to Partner with Jeff Rowland Criterion
David, I'm thinking that Osvaldo might have a valid point. I'd really be curious to have you listening to my setup. . . X-01 + Criterion + 312 + Vienna Mahler 1.5 is anything but anemic in the bass region. But I have also found that my setup is ve...

dcs debussy
DAC to computer connection is still in its infancy. . . yet, it may be worth while holding off on assessing this device's capabilities until it has made its way into the US and someone has had the opportunity of talking to the importer. . . or see...

Best / most complete description of Debussy I have found appears on the site of what may be Polish distributor for DCS:http://audiofast.pl/main.asp?IDM=1&ids=129&idsu=1017&r=0&wersja=1On other sites I have seen a US manufacturer su...
Pass 's xa series is this his best so far?
Pedrillo, the XA.5 was never meant to be a revolutionary departure from the original XA series. As far as I know, the primary design goal was to extend compatibility and high 'torque' for lower impedance speakers that were not as adequately driven...
Pass 's xa series is this his best so far?
Pedrillo, there are 2 Pass XA series, the original XA and the newer XA.5. . . . Which one are you referring to? G.
The 1.6 Maggies - any thoughts on best amp?
The Maggies 1.6 will benefit from a moderately powerful amplifier with a high damping factor. In this arena I enjoy a couple of class D amplifiers that use the ICEpower 500 ASP module. Have a look at the Bel Canto Ref 500M for example. I have revi...
