I've never even heard of solid core speaker wire, let alone considered using it.It's what I use (&describe) above: one 22-20g wire for hot & one for return (IC). That makes it UNshielded, "solid core" -- as opposed to many thin wires twist... 
Cables are just the "B" section
You can also purchase external parallel filters and surge protectors that operate similarly. Often, they're slightly cheaper. These also offer an advantage in that the filter can be a short cable run away fm the component.

What do I expect in a horn speaker system?
Also: controlled dispersion, very "dynamic" sound (or "aggressive" in bad set-up), very high dynamic range (horns are very sensitive), large size !!, hi level of details is easily perceptible in mid-upper mid range, very hi spl are attainable. 
Why Palladium in cables, wiring, etc. . .?
Titanium & palladium together offer many advantages; one is the happy combination of low flammability point and toxicity.

I spent $200 on gold cd's on amazon last night...Now THAT'S the spirit. Diy cables next.BTW, Klipschorns are very good spkrs -- esp with a few mods! Really.

Keep the system. Tweek it, maybe? Spend the money on music. The system looks fine as it is.If you upgrade spkrs, go for the next V model.
