Isophon Cassiano or what?
Well, Smaj, you'll have to listen to both very carefully. On paper, the Isophon uses a more expensive driver complement (all Thiel & Partner). Impossible to say which is better, why, & by how much -- without testing!
How Many Of Us Are Compensating
I dunno, a good system will convey the shortcomings of a bad recording period. And, while doing so, will also reveal the musical content better than the average system -- no?

Musical Fidelity Supercharger for MBL cheapskates?
In theory, I would shy away from adding a second layer of amplification onto my existing one (i.e. "supercharger"). OTOH, were this to be used, I would have to reconcile myself with the idea of listening to a MF -- rather than an Atma.In practise,...
How Many Of Us Are Compensating
I do this rarely -- and the end of the chain: my current spkrs have some control features on them.I've found two difficulties with equalisers: the losses (distortion) and the lack of ultimate precision (the freq bands seem to shift).I do remember ...
Biamping with tubes and SS: Input sensitivity key?

Biamping with tubes and SS: Input sensitivity key?
TAD-60 (input sensitivity given as 1 volt or more)Well, which is it: 1v or more? It;s not a matter of attenuating the higher power -- for now, just focus on getting the input sens that same for both amps. Or one will output more energy than the oth...

Infinite bafflement?
"Infinite baffle" is where the front wave emanating from a driver is completely separated from the back wave... as in, installing your woofer on the front wall of your house...In real life, it usually means that the low freq driver is installed in...

EMpire + loading:Raul & other Empire cartridge amateurs: what loading do you use for them?I have a 2000e/3 and cannot find the inductance specs anywhere....It sounded congested at 47kOhm / 200pF. Lowering resistance to half made it very slow s...
Please help with speaker choices
Peter, reading your & others' posts and noting yr budget, I don't think you can get what you're looking for, the way you're looking for it:i.e., * one stereo amp, driving more or less full-range speakers (you listen to music that requires mid-...
I'm not dreaming - these are great CD copies
"REd book" cd = the standard cd protocol (you know, 44.1kHz /16 bits, the works).
