GeochSimon Yorke's "Zarathustra S4" or the "Denon DP80" and you will never look for an upgrade. Do not overpay for an arm. It is the most fetish material in this hobby and in my case I've routinely substituting for the better till I've met my holl...
Magnepan Service HORRIBLE???
Ultimately you will be well taken care of by Magnepan as they are a highly professional company:)A well meant comment, for sure, but that professionalism seems to take a long time to surface!I wouldn't want my spkrs or my car in a similar situation.
Who uses high end TT setup for vintage records ?
Pani,But then truly neutral systems should not be biased to any recording technique, it should just bring out whatever is there in the groove "in the right proportion"A TT system with good resolution will bring out what is in the groove --- only I...

I am trying to figure out what to audition besides the classicWell, try a Clearaudio package instead. It's more of the fast, nimble, & detailed school of sound.Or, best of all, just purchase a top-level used TT as Elizabeth suggests... it's l...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hallo gentlemen, long live (love) this thread!! So, I'm back after a long absence during which my venerable C-audio Discovery crashed, along with my finances (unrelated crashes). So, giga$ cartridges are out.Hence, my story with an Azden, which fo...
Review: Audio-Technica USA A-T 3482 Cartridge
Thanks for this review -- it's very good!
Amp for Sonus Faber Cremoma M
Emotiva is not high end, imo, it's mid-fiWhat Dave72 is probably hinting at is, the amp's resolution is mediocre by hi-end standards. If that is indeed the case, another amp is needed -- higher powered rather than lower. Any of the amps you mention...
Accuphase preamps
Are the A/B models a good choice, or just stick with Class A. And are they a better choice than Bryston amps?My opinion is that class A Accuphase is much better than Bryston -- even though Bryston is the most decent, reliable, & good value pro...
Accuphase preamps
Paul: I did not realize there is a large difference between the C-2410 and C-2810 as Greg has mentioned. To give an example of the difference: the dynamic range and the hi frequency extension. Take the first movement on Mahler 2. At the ffff, the d...
Speaker cables for 4 ohm speakers
"I am using a Coda CSi Integrated amp that has a pushed bias of 45w class A to about 600 watts 4ohm rating."Can somebody tell me what this means?"Good question! It probably means that said amplifier circuit is designed ("biased") so that the first ...
Accuphase preamps
If you're looking for a (high priced) Accuphase pre, then I agree with Nvp that used 2810 is the way to go.Inexplicably, there was much more dynamic content to the 2810 than the 2410 when I listened to them a couple of years ago.
B&W matrix 800 or genesis V
The system I used on both was Symphonic Line rg3 pre & Symphonic Line rg-4 mono's (S. Yorke TT & a Symphonic Line Reference cd player as sources)Later, the amplification was changed to Kraft 250 class A, driven by transformer volume based ...
a solid state amp that is recessed in the treble
Try any class A biased, low-to-mid power, SS amp. Electro monos, the small Plinius... Any well maintained vintage class A amp probably could bring on happiness. Another good if unlikely candidate is a wide bandwidth amp: Spectral for example.Stay ...
B&W matrix 800 or genesis V
I had 800s (yrs very long time ago and a recent 801 model) and I still have the Vs. The Vs create a wide and deep soundstage behind the spkrs. They are difficult to place correctly in the room but they are indeed adjustable and, at the end of the ...
Fuses that matter.
I use fancy fuses on my amps & cdp, and I'm happy... ...Not because they make no discernible difference to my system, but because I'm not missing out.:)I am serious, they are there, and they are directional too: supposedly has to do with the g...
