Can anyone tell me about CD demagnatizers?
Mega, I have. The Zerostat works well with the wiring in general AND vinyl -- but doesn't seem to do much for the cd. I don't know what (if anything) I'm doing wrong. I haven't tried mapleshade, but have used Nordost's spray. I use that on speaker...
Can anyone tell me about CD demagnatizers?
Zaike, interesting! I "clean" my cd's as follows: using an antistatic cleaner cleaner from a respectable Co (J&Son, Benckiser etc). Usually available at any local s/market, I lightly spray the printed surface (i.e. NOT the data) of the cd &...
Taking the bad with the good
Interesting Sean -- strange though it may be, I remember the "pleasant" surprises. Maybe because I relegate the "mediocre" to the back of my mind and I don't remember the atrocious... A recent "mediocre" system was an all Quad system (pre, powerx2...
Vinyl distortion - What's the problem?
As you've already tried switching channels, as Zaike suggests, it's probably either: a) the electrical connection in the cartridge-to-phono chain (have you checked the pins on the cartridge?) b) a problem with the cartridge. So, Twl has a point --...
What isolation used between shelves and Turntable?
Raz, I have a Yorke. It's sitting directly onto a Neuance, the Neuance itself on upturned, rounded spikes, the whole on a dedicated stand. Marble floor. Cheers!
Why vinyl?
Come on, inpepinnovations -- that's 32 analogue frames/sec :). There's no d to a conversion... IMO, Thomasheisig was just making an analogy regarding the reproduction characteristics. Cheers!
Acapella ion tweeters
Travis: Detlof uses these, separately. From my experience: Ozone problems have been licked. The tweets are VERY fast. Don't know how easy they are to purchase separately as I heard them as part of the speaker (but Detlof does, obviously). BTW, Det...
Regarding a review in the Aug '02 Stereophile...
Fmpnd, may I multiply yr $0,02? I second, third & fourth your motion!Cheers!
Electrostatic speaker cables...
Dennis, it seems you had a similar experience to mine with the Bearlabs/Stators combination... But then, Bear uses stators too doesn't he? Strangely, in my present dynamic/dipole speaker configuration the full Bearlabs set has two competitors: S-L...
JMLab Utopia and Watt/Puppy 7.0 Comparsion
I beg to differ slightly. My Wilson experience tallies with Jtinn's on all accounts. But I have heard the Utopia come alive with YBA Passion electronics. The latter are surely not a unique choice... but the speakers lost the lifeless precision (as...
Audiogoners Anonymous?
Geez, when one of us called "Clueless" constantly comes up with insightful remarks -- it makes you think, doesn't it ;)?
Audio Aero Capitole II with no serial numbers?
Golden, it seems unlikely that a player would leave the manufacturer w/out a serial number. Probably the number was taken off; or these are rejects (but how did they leave the factory?). There are worse possibilities... Thanks for the warning!
Kharma Ceramique 1.1 or Verity Parsifal Encore?
This is a tough one! I have heard Parsifal, Ceramique, KR8000 -- but NOT together! The little I can contribute (pls excuse the haphazard vocabulary...)*Parsifals with Lamm electronics (tube): The sound was "elegant", the piano particularly natural...
My wife says yes Help what to upgrade next?
Gretchen: I suggest you get the most out of yr PRESENT system before changing active components.1) Give aftermarket pc's a try on your system. Larger gauge rather than smaller... Check out the sound. 2) Then review speaker positioning (if you have...
Tubes Do It -- Transistors Don't.
On a side note: Scintilla. (yrs ago) I remember someone was trying to make his pair play music with a pair of Electro 50. These, while great, couldn't move the Scintillas beyond whispering level... they kept blowing fuses. All we wanted was to LIS...
