Update on Audiogon Member Almarg Dear Al, In the light of things, it seems that we need a miracle -- so that is what I will wish for and pray for. Your voice here is one of reason and maturity, not to mention the interesting and precise information you provide. Be well Al, you ha...
the dB/octave specification of the crossover? A lousy metaphor indeed! Where is the analogy between the resolution of a TV screen and the attenuation slope of a xover???
Seas Excel Diamond tweeter or Plasma? The plasma tweet is difficult to combine with ATC’s 75 unit -- mechanical compliance will be an issue, before even discussing electronic compatibility. If you wish to improve upon your Tetra, add low-frequency energy maybe even using a couple of 12...
what is your opinion ? @atmasphere I’m afraid there is no separating the wheat from the chaff, and all of your goodwill and your efforts have fallen flat! @sabih: Atmasphere is trying to tell you that he, too, avoids aimless talks (i.e. he agrees with you that "mine is ...
Can anything be down about this? There must be an agenda! The CD is compressed, as noted above. If you have access to sound mastering software (odyssey, etc), you can improve this slightly by lowering loudness and correcting clips. It will sound slightly better.
Should a stereo soundstage be 3D or 2D? @saintsaens_op61 It should be 3D, ie. width, height, and depth. If the system is properly set up, that is, and the recording is good. e.g. On your favourite St Saens opus 61 (3rd violin concerto) and with dipole speakers, the violinist is in the ...
Duelund conversion to DIY Helix Geometry Cabling @williewonka Thank you.
Duelund conversion to DIY Helix Geometry Cabling @williewonka thank you for sharing your experiments and @wig as well for your findings.I am ready to build a 1.3m long Helix interconnect and think I'll go for the Mundorf variation.A quick question: -- the signal wire is 1mm (18g) silver; -> w...
100W, 200W, or 300W? May I follow up on @almarg advice above and suggest you hold on to your new speakers which are excellent. Amp: consider an ATC S(?) 150 integrated. It retails far below the Macs and, all things considered, it sounded excellent driving the model up...
High Powered Holographic Amplifiers @theduker Let me chip in too, focusing solely on your request, "holographic imaging" & amp.My nominations follow (explanation below):*Vitus (mentioned above), the power amp from their signature series, not the integrated*Soulution: the 710 or,...
Are current audio cable designs superior to 1980s designs? Coming back to the original question, yes I think you'll find that cables are better made now, there is more choice, and the prices are increasingly ludicrous as mentioned before. Nothing to prevent you from trying out and (if convinced) purchasin...
Vinyl / High qual analog tape / High-res digital -- One of these is not like the other @roberttdid ....almost all those making the claim have never heard a really good analog tape machine and high resolution digital side by side. (...) Coincidentally, I am one of those who have (a restored Studer compared to an Ideon Audio Absolu...
Will this amp trick work for increasing bass performance? @robert1976 I was suggesting the X250.8 for bass duties and XA60.8 for mid/high. No doubt that's what you meant -- hence my comment about the 6dB difference between the two amps (+6 from the bass amp).As an aside, A'gon member Audiokinesis, a spe...
Will this amp trick work for increasing bass performance? Hi, years ago I listened to old Mezzo Utopias (i.e. not very different to your Focals) driven by two amps vs one and the results were indeed better with two albeit, not overwhelmingly so. We used identical amp models (Soulution). So, using two amps...
How do you power EU items? and how to ship an item to USA? May I suggest you just order one? I use two, somewhat more upmarket, and the effect is excellent! The wall-warts supplied work anywhere in the world |
