The most detailed speaker cable?? Let's try to interpret (rather than be sick). What Rsbeck seems to be claiming is that a connecting wire, in and of itself, cannot be "detailed" or otherwise because a wire passively connects components and only carries a signal (I'd also add the ...
The most detailed speaker cable?? How *does* one solve a non-existant problemI'd start by being adventurous: bypass the IC connectors and hard-wire b/ween components. Not easy to do when using expensive commercial equipment, I know! After it's not only the wire that's conducting it...
So my wife says to me this morning Sound to me like you just earned yourself some extra cash for new LPs. (sell the VPI)Pretend the Rega is a pre-industrial design coffee grinder. Or place a photo of a Ferrari in front of it. Cheers
eAR 1001 power amp questions. It was the 1001. Cheers!
why does preamp improve sound quality? An attenuator (passive) doesn't control anything but the volume function (voltage usually). In a passive attenuator, it's the source component that effectively drives the load via the volume control + connecting wires. If one has a source with a s...
High quality transports Just as side note -- but aren't there only 3-4 manufacturers of generic transports out there (Philips, Sony, Teac, CEC maybe)? Why not determine which manufacturer is more to yr liking and then short-list the brands using that transport?I, for one...
eAR 1001 power amp questions. As far as a) is concerned, I wouldn't worry BUT send the card particulars by FAX -- not e-mail. b) Can't say -- sales tax + s/thing surelyAs to sound: I only heard one model and I can't tell which one -- 501 or 1001 -- by looking at their site. I ...
speaker with high WAF How about these. Electrostats, 1" wide, 6" tall. Look good in a living room, in an art deco sort of way. Good WAF, I know, I tried them with mine (wife, that is). Active, so no need for extra boxes (amps) cluttering the room.
Turn Table upgrade, please advise I second Lugnut's priority schedule -- with an extra note re, the phono. I'd put the phono separately. A phono is very important BUT most available phonos are very average. A good -- not necessarily very expensive -- cartridge will often outperfor...
Anyone use Kraft amplification? I had a Kraft integrated on loan for some time -- the "big" model -- and was driving a pair of Genesis Vs & Maggie 3,6 with it. I also tried it on a friend's Lowthers. He normally the ubiquitous flea rated SET but, however unlikely it may soun...
About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone Way to go, Patrick. BTW, do try one day to listen to Mahler's 2nd symphony ("resurrection"). I think you'll like it! Cheers
Turn Table upgrade, please advise I second the Scroeder. Most other unipivots (ex: Moerch) may offer some improvement -- but probably not as significant as the Schroeder. IMO, etc)
Speakers that work with Atma-sphere M60 amps. Jb0194 -- what are you partnering the 3.1s with? You mentioned a 12" midbass... could you give more info? Cheers
Would you buy speakers with out first listening ? Actually, Duke, that's an excellent piece of written advice (if I may say so)! Cheers!
First Order Crossovers: Pros and Cons "Time/phase coherance" As Viridian notes above, 1st order helps with phase. However, it's one thing to time align the drive units & anther thing to tackle electrical phase. Cheers |
