Does this amp have a problem or is it OK to buy?
Johnsonwu is telling you stay clear unless you know what you are doing with solder gun and circuit. If you want to fix the issue and look at it as a challenge, then have at it! Simply pay far less then the asking price .
Does this amp have a problem or is it OK to buy?
If you hear the hum or buzz through the woofer, then I would stay away as it is not simply tube hiss etc....
Does this amp have a problem or is it OK to buy?
Humming through the speakers is not the same as a noisey tranny which is a mechanical noise which does not produce a hum through the speakers. The unit has a hum problem which may be a ground loop issue or power supply caps that need replacing. Per...
C'mon name that amp ...please?
Go for a great hybrid amp for the great sound of tubes without the hassle and heat. The Aesthetix Atlas stereo amp is wonderful as is the Moscode.
Compact Disc as a format
Cd's will stick for some time and I still think computer based audio is not quite ready for prime time. Too many twists and turns and changes and steps and pieces and confusion and improvements and cd's still sound better. At least great cd player...

This is a scam and back out right away. I have had this tried on me on two occasions and it is a sure scam. Run from it right now!
Amp design logic
It would take me years of study to get to the point of building my own tube amp. That takes time and time and expertise is what you also pay for. Time is expensive and means a great deal to us humans. It has been said that to become an expert in a...

Any way to "improve" a Conrad Johnson MF 2500
Have an iec plug installed and use a better aftermarket power cord. It can also be upgraded to a 2500a by CJ with using better quality caps. You can also install audiophile grade fuses for better sound.
My system's high frequencies hurt my ears
Some acoustic panels look fine to good even to our spouses. I will say it one more time. This is your issue. GIK makes all sort of colors and art panels and they will tame your highs and greatly improve your sound.Speaker placement and room treatm...
My system's high frequencies hurt my ears
Get some GIK acoustic panels and treat the 1&2nd reflection points as well as the wall behind you. They can also be used on the wall behind the speakers. Please tell me about your room. I can near guarantee you that these 242 and 244 GIK panel...
Speakers with no rear wall, better or worse sound?
You want the speakers you mention at least 5 feet out from the wall. The more the better. Mine are 7.5 feet and the sound is glorious. I measure from the front of the speaker. Perhaps 13 is too much, but I would have to hear them. The rule of 1/3'...
Conrad Johnson Art vs. Premier 16 LS II
I owned the CJ 16 and liked it a lot. However the TRL Dude tube preamp was a utter and complete revelation to my music compared to the well respected 16. Based on this experience please do yourself a big favor and consider the Dude.
