Cleaning, polishing Speaker Cabinets ?
If you have a high gloss finish over wood as mentioned above, a wood type cleaner won't be as effective as products that are used with polyester or catalyzed finishes. I have used a lot of products over the years on gloss type finishes. My new fav...
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
It seems that the best outcome is when you can do a full frequency analysis based on test tones and a microphone set up in your listening position. That being said, you still need to use you ears to dial in the listening room. All rooms have "prob...
"forward' vs "laid back" speakers
Twoleftears, we need to listen to the PMC 26's. I had previously heard the Fact 8 and it was nice but didn't knock my socks off. Mapman has good points to make and I was using a generalization in a broad sense. Also, we have been hauling my friend...
"forward' vs "laid back" speakers
Twoleftears, a friend and I have been on speaker quest for the last couple of months in the Pacific Northwest and have come to some similar observations as yours relative to forward and recessed presentations. Another observation is the number of ...
Vienna Acoustics Liszt - Fad or Future?
Not sure if it is a fad or not. All I know is that I have been listening to a lot of speakers lately and this particular model is very musical and hits all the right emotional buttons. The upper head doesn't need to be adjusted very much, perhaps ...
Vienna Acoustics Listz impressions
Shank I have not heard the Musik....it is out of my price range and probably too big for my room
Vienna Acoustics Listz impressions
Rlwainwright the salesperson initially steered me away from this speaker when I was auditioning the Wilson Sophia II. If you like the Wilson sound, you will probably find this speaker too soft or not as dramatic. For my tastes I find the Wilson tr...
Girlfriends and wifes, how do YOU cope?
I just use the same line my wife uses on me...."Look how much I saved, it was xxxx percent off!" Or, I just fund my next purchase via the sale of some existing equipment. If I really get desperate, I will research a purchase to death and when she ...
Room treatment
You can spend a lot of time and money chasing room acoustics. Some go overboard with acoustic panels and end up with a room that sounds dead. Usually corner bass traps can help and treating the first reflection points with diffusion or fiberglass ...
Rockport Avior or Magico S5
I have listened to the Vandersteen 5A carbon and would agree with Joey V that they didn't really do anything for me. The electronics were acoustic research at a dealer event. The midrange seemed a little thick to me and the bass was bloated and ov...
Herron M1-1A monobocks, what do you think?
I am a fan of Herron audio for a few reasons. Keith's products sound excellent, are well built, can be upgraded for a nominal fee and Keith is just a great guy to work with. I have upgrade my original M150 amps to the M1A. Is there better equipmen...
Keeping dustcover looking new
I would recommend Plexus plastic cleaner. It is good for all types of plastic and only use it with a soft microfiber towel, never a paper towel. I use it on my dust cover and motorcycle lexan and acrylic windshields.
Aerial 7T vs. Marten Django L
Arboc, I also have the Ascendants and am looking to upgrade for the same reasons you mentioned. I have been listening to some more expensive speakers and others at about the same price point. Let us know what your listening results are!
My Triton Ones are being delivered to me tomorrow
Stereo5 glad to hear that they recognized the quality problem and it isn't an ongoing issue. Sounds like you are going to spike (couple) the speakers to the floor rather than isolating them. Not sure if your subfloor is concrete or a suspended woo...
My Triton Ones are being delivered to me tomorrow
Stereo5 hope they work out for you! I think you are correct that there is a general QC issue. I would guess that there is no checking (running and testing) the final speakers before shipment. That usually adds to the cost of the product.
