Best Phono You've Heard Under $2200
A friend has a Darlington MP-7 and really likes it.  US made with user specific options.  Probably in the 1K range.
One big reason why brick and mortar high end audio dealers struggle.
I only visit a HiFi store if I'm going to buy something or if they have a customer event with a manufacture.  I know the stores basic inventory in the Seattle area.  If I travel, thats a different story and may pop into a retailer noting that I'm ...

I live in the Seattle area and frankly the options for audio equipment is pretty pathetic.  You either have a bigger retailer with the same equipment (that I have no interest in) that rarely changes or the smaller guys that cater to limited budget...
Adding a Herron VTSP 3A/360 Preamplifier to the system.
Just sent my 360 back to Keith for the "reference" upgrade.  I have had all his preamps and the 360 ESP (soon to be reference) are really special.  It's my end point with the M2 mono blocks.
If a " system " cannot do this, I move on........
@mrdecibel plus one.  I know exactly what you are talking about.  This is the formula for a good recording.  Song writing + talent + producing + engineering + mixing + mastering = a potentially good recording.  If one of those elements are missing...
Live music you have attended that left impact....perhaps better than you expected.
My first concert was Jimi Hendrix and I worked my way through the rock bands of the 70's.  I now enjoy smaller venues with jazz etc. and really focus on the music instead of the "event".  I was at Benaroya hall this last Sunday and heard a wonderf...

Hmmm, appointments, limited hours and probably limited selections?  Why not just join an audio club with enthusiastic members with diverse equipment that would be glad to share their experiences and knowledge with you?  The audio industry is in sa...
For SACD fans only
So you can go the Esoteric route, Luxman new player route (05, 07 at some point) or the new PS audio transport and new DAC sometime in the 2nd quarter of 2022.  I am in the same boat and will be upgrading from my Modwright Marantz fully modded pla...
Buying the right tool (aka gear) the first time...
Many excellent and useful responses.  I bought my first system in the mid 70's so I have been doing this for a few years.  I have changed speakers five times since then.  Analog source has changed twice and digital 6 times.  My electronics (amp an...
Cable Management Tips and Tricks
I use light weight styrofoam to separate my interconnects from my power chords.
For SACD fans only
Luxman will be coming out with their 05 and 07 SACD players but I don't know the dates.
Zavfino
I received three power chords yesterday.  The packaging is 100%, the same as my speaker cables.  The first few hours of break in was as  expected.  Grainy and rough in the upper frequencies.  With just minimal hours on them, they are starting to s...
Townshend Springs under Speakers
The greatest improvement for me was Podiums under the speakers.  I then placed the pods under my tube pre amp replacing the HRS footers.  Speakers first in my opinion.
Any Vienna acoustics love out there? Anyone even still using them?
@big_greg I had the same reaction to the other models in the VA line up until I heard the Liszt.  It's encouraging if they have made some design changes because I felt they were OK, but kind or boring.
Acoustic treatment question: do you agree with Dennis Foley that $46k to $65k is required?
@larryi you are correct. Start with an untreated room and set up the speakers properly. I have used several different methods, but the one that has worked best for me is the Wilson Audio set up guide using your actual voice to determine the prefer...
