Upgrade speaker cables OR amp for Dynaudio C4's?
With all due respect to Albert... I'd stick with SS on the C4s. I'm sure there are a few high powered tube amps to drive them, but as others have noted, it will require a lot of tubes, and will put off a lot of heat.I'd look into a higher powered ...
Need advice on McIntosh driving Thiel 2.4's
The 402 is 400WPC, high current. It will have no problems whatsoever driving your 2.4s
Dynaudio sub with C1's
Hi,The Dyn C1s are great speakers, but even with a sub, they won't sound like C4s.Adding a sub to the C1 will give you more extension, but the differences between the C1 and the C4 are far greater than extension alone. As good as the C1s are, and t...
McIntosh vs. Accuphase
That's cool that you find the Luxman to sound better than the Mac integrated... but I don't think we can draw the conclusion that Luxman amps "outclass" Mac amps in general...
unbiased opinion of Moon monoblocs
Intersting response Usblues...Sim makes great amps. The monos are pricey, but you often get what you pay for. If you like the way they sound, get them. There will always be something different, and the desire to find something "better," but there'...
Supratek Cabernet Preamp
Kevin is awesome, FYI. I had a problem with my phono stage in the Syrah, and he got it taken care for me immediately. He also added an HT bypass to my Syrah.
Quicksilver Mid Monos vs AES Sixpacs
Can I edit that? I meant to address that to "Sean"... Not sure where I got that "chapman" from...
Quicksilver Mid Monos vs AES Sixpacs
Chapman,I own the AES Sixpacs. They are great amps and sound fantastic with my 8 ohm + speakers, but I have found that they lose dynamics and transient attack on lower impedance speakers.I haven't heard a Chapman, but these are built like tanks, a...
rookie drunk move
You're fine. If you blew a fuse, you would have no sound at all.
Room size suitable for which Wilsons?
Daisiu - With all due respect, and I do with you the best of luck, you can consider whatever you'd like. However, I've had smallish standmounts that were too large a speaker for a 14 ft room dimension. Of course dynamics are a consideration, but a...
Best sub 4000 dollar standmount.
So, about the speakers you actually mention...You mention you have a smaller room, which is never good, even with monitors. The Dynaudio S 1.4 (I used to own them, bought new) certainly have a big, dynamic, room filling sound - but they have 2 prob...
Which Dynaudio to buy under 2k used
how big is medium sized? I wouldn't use dynaudios in a room any smaller than 16x16. They are awesome once they have some current running through them, but can be somewhat opaque if your room is too small to drive them with juice.
Subwoofer for Magnepan 20.1s Yes/No/Why?
Have you measured your in room frequency response? Whether or not you need a sub really depends on what your measured output is in the bass area. Your room will determine whether your drop off at 80hz, 60hz, 40hz or 20hz.I have full range speakers...
Room size suitable for which Wilsons?
12.5' wide? This is very narrow. I wouldn't put any wilsons in a room this narrow. Wilsons are ultradynamic, and have a lot of bass. I would look into a a smallish pair of monitors for a narrow room, and place a subwoofer where it will minimize th...
Recommended systems - components for Car Stereo
Russel,For speaker drivers, I would look into Dynaudio, Focal, Scan Speak or Morel. For amps, the JL amps are an inexpensive and good way to start.Would your plan be to use your existing stock head unit? Oftentimes, the stock head units will have b...
