Good FM tuner for around $1K
Sansui TU717 and TU919 are about the best out there for reasonable money better then the Mag Dynalab lower tier entries by a good margin. find one recapped already, easy to find too. I wont get into a discussion here but a recapped 717-919 is a be...
Can this be good first tube amplifier?
In the end you get what you pay for and in the tube amp world that means quite a lot.  I'm sure it will work fine but I would not judge tube amps sound on those rather inexpensive amps. They look really good and if they spend that much on looks wh...

Shipping calculator on Audiogon?
Why don't you use the shipping companies calculator there's will always be more accurate then Agon's. I'd never use the one here. always use the shipping company-postal services with proper weights, size and insurance-signature required.
Can I use an isolation stand with an isolation pad?
In the end 20hz tone is 56.5 ft long so your neighbour will almost always hear the bass louder then you. even a 40hz tone is 28ft long so bass is always a hard thing to tame in smaller spaces. I've seen an issues were my friend had no bass in his ...
How are you hearing no difference?
I know also time is a factor as well, I've listened to components I'm interested in and thought they sounded better because they did have more of this and that. but long term I wasn't listening to music anymore I was listening to what that compone...
What I miss about vintage gear
Luxman, Accuphase also have full featured integrated amps with the meters etc. There are a few more out there also that still build them like they used to. I'm really hopping some manufacturers start including the meters, tone controls etc. Again ...
