Affordable integrated pure class A?
Luxman has made very nice class A amps for decades, Accuphase, Sungden, Pass labs, all these can be had used in your price range if you  look and have time. Luxman L540-550-560 are Pure class A amps from the early 80's that are wonderful and can b...

low mass tone arm suggestion sub $1k used
Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. time to start looking into them. I’ve thought about the new Jelco (They do look nice and here in Canada almost $3k) but its still too heavy for the MC 10 or simular, i’ve actually tried the cart on my 750...
low mass tone arm suggestion sub $1k used
Yes for high compliance carts. Yeah the magnepan arm's are going for over $3k now according to HighFiShark. If i'm going to spend that much I'll replace the Jelco first. But looks like a nice arm. someone else mentions the grace 707 as a possible ...
Is there a better DAC than the Schiit Bifrost for $300?
another good budget audio company is IFI Audio. They have a few DAC's and they aso get great reviews. I've owned one of their IFI Iphono2 phono stages that at $500 was punching well above its price point. Highly recommend IFI products.
Pre-Amp vs. Integrated...why?
Just to clarify you understand what the phono preamp is doing right?  its main job is to decode the RIAA curve and to amplify the very small signal from the cart so your preamp can use it. (preamp regardless if integrated or not). The decoding is ...
Delos bottoming out anybody else experience this?
One other thing to check is the compliance of the cart and tone arm. if your arm is too heavy for the cart this can happen as well.
Cimpliance Vs Cartridge loading
The denon 103 needs much more then 100ohms. the spec sheet say more then 100ohms not 100ohms. Note also the spec's  from Denon were taken at 1000ohms FYI. I also have a Denon 103 on my second arm and I find 470 ohms to 1k ohm to be ideal. Mind you...
A problem with AC Power you may not have considered.
thanks as well excellent read
Thoughts on VTA......
I used to do it by ear then I got a micro meter on the fly mod for my12" Jelco and well now I wonder how I managed with out. makes it much easier and faster IMO, same results in the end. as for changing for thickness I really can’t tell the differ...
Line Magnetic 110Volt vs 220Volt
or you can get an electrician to wire a plug to 220vac. That said I ran a power transformer for years and didn't notice anything with it. I would not worry about a power transformer there is dozens in the grid just from the plant to your house wit...
Sound Quality of red book CDs vs.streaming
Radio was not - is not  free just spend 10 mins listening to it and you hear the not free part every other song they are called advertisements. I'd pay $10 a month for free from adverts with out question. in the age of $5 coffee $10 a month for al...
Line Magnetic 110Volt vs 220Volt
Wow that's quite a disparity in price for a different tap on the power transformer, assuming that's all it is. even if its a different transformer 220 v and 115v would be very close to the same price for cost.  Now if your in NA the 220v version w...
Denon DL 103 modifications and re-body questions thread
I also tried a 103 to see what the fuss was about and frankly they are not worth the expence to mod IMO. save your money and upgrade to a better cart. I know a lot of you will flame me for this but the Denon 103 is quite vailed, is boomy in the b...
New to audiophile and need HELP.
I think some people here have already suggested going to active speakers. These will be your best bang for buck I think. The LS50w are fantastic but you will need a sub either now or later down the road. Elac has a powered speaker now as well that...
