Anybody tried EMM DCC2 into preamp? In this case, I don't know, though FMPND's use of the tubed Tenor amp suggests that the Meitner preamp can be improved upon even when used with a tubed amp. The biggest things I noticed with a tubed preamp were: greatly increased dynamics and slam...
Anybody tried EMM DCC2 into preamp? The DCC2 is obviously very good--for solid-state. But it doesn't cut the mustard. You need a tubed preamp. Or, alternatively, a tubed amp--something I have not tried. But my results were the same as Springbok's--night and day, even with tubed amps...
Audio Research Ref 3 Opinions I'm sure ARC is excellent. Also wonder about new CAT Legend and C-J ACT 2.
Audio Research Ref 3 Opinions Is it better than the $35,000 (!) Krell Evolution 2, four chassis preamp?
Anybody tried EMM DCC2 into preamp? I think tubes help.
Isolation Platform - to be or not to be for CDP? Brian--we see eye to eye! The Nimbus is irreplacable.
VPI turntable again...... The complaints about the VPI HR-X are fairly standard: it lacks anti-skating; it has too many motors; it has a lowmass acrylic platter; it has too big a plinth; unipivot arms are deleterious; and the air bladders don't screen out vibrations effect...
Meitner DCC2 vs. Analog - Opinions Please I have both the HR-X and Meitner DCC2/CDSD, as Tireguy indicated. I can't be as certain as Mike L. is about the superiority of vinyl across the board.I've also heard the SME 30, Rockport, Verdier, Forsell, Walker, Avid etc. I think it comes down t...
Is the EMM CDSD transport in very short supply? But what do you ask for?
MG 20.1 or Wisdom audio m-75 Tireguy is right. It's not simple. But it involves creating a single crossover, combining the internal and external, as well as rewiring the crossover so that a separate run of cables runs to it.
Designing VPI HRX turntable stand long None of you has addressed the question of the air bladders, and whether they work.
Meitner DCC2 I have just heard from someone else who put a Hovland linestage in that it considerably opened up his system, that is, he bypassed the DCC2 preamp, and, much to his surprise, as he takes a somewhat skeptical view of the Hovland, though the improve...
Can transport in Philips SACD 1000 be replaced? Bill--didn't you say you were looking for a good doorstop? I think we've both found it.
What wire config for tri-wired speakers? Basically, what I'm saying is: don't waste your money on expensive bass cables. But for goodness sake, get rid of those jumpers, and use separate runs for the rest of the speaker. It should open up considerably and provide a smoother, fuller sound.
What wire config for tri-wired speakers? No-I'm suggesting you use separate runs of Jena to the midrange and treble. And that you use a heavy gauge copper cable that costs, say, $400-500 for the bass. At 200hz or below, you just need to pump that current into the bass. |
