Digital sources best with Hydra 8's analog outlets I dunno. It seems to me the Hydra-8 works great. But I don't think any power conditioner works optimally with the amp plugged into the same equipment as the front-end. I wouldn't really blame Hydra for this state of affairs.
McIntosh 501 or 602 for Magnepan 20.1 It won't be too much. It should sound a lot better with more power.Yes, the JC-1 can run the 20.1s, but it doesn't control them the way a truly high-powered amp does. Just look at how little the JC-1s weigh. The real bruisers weigh 100-200 pounds ...
Digital sources best with Hydra 8's analog outlets You shouldn't be plugging the power amp into it, anyway. It should be on a separate line.
Review of Dartzeel NHB-108 Amplifier Mike--perhaps the Dartzeel can handle the VR-7. But when you have the VR-9 with the powered sub, you are, in effect, biamping. The Dartzeel doesn't have to cope with those bass frequencies, which means it should play with even more refinement and ...
Review of Dartzeel NHB-108 Amplifier DBK--you're asking that Dartzeel to do a lot more when you take out the powered subs of the VR-9 and go to the VR-7. Why not look at the DB-99?
Review of Dartzeel NHB-108 Amplifier Mes--did you mean postpartum oppression, perhaps! Not a bit of it, I assure you. You may need to up your bench presses, though, if you want to make that cape look good.By way, Mike, I wonder if that sub was properly set up--if they aren't integrat...
Review of Dartzeel NHB-108 Amplifier Actually, Hooper, I don't believe a word of what you're saying. You knew this would happen, didn't you, you cunning lad? Stop playing the innocent.
McIntosh 501 or 602 for Magnepan 20.1 Don't even think about the Paraounds JC-1s on the 20.1s. I tried them and they were pushed to their limit. Their transformers are too small. They can't deliver enough voltage. You need a very powerful amp either a Classe Omega, Rowland, Levinson, ...
Review of Dartzeel NHB-108 Amplifier It seems to me it comes down to personal preference. I never succumbed to the Kharmas because, for me, they lacked the "jump" factor. The von Schweikert, Jrs., which I heard next to the Kharma midis in NY, had it. I was impressed. But: it's certai...
Review of Dartzeel NHB-108 Amplifier I'd be surprised--no, astonished--if Mike meant that the Dartzeel has the sonic slam overall of the big amps. I think what he means is that on the Kharmas, the little Dartzeel packs enough current to make it come alive, though I myself think two w...
Velodyne DD Series My question didn't ask if bass in general is fast, but what the relative speed of the 12 is to the 15.
Kharma 3.2 to MidiGrand Upgade??? FMPND--do you prefer the Lamm sonically to the Tenors?
Anybody tried EMM DCC2 into preamp? Much of the magic is in the power supplies as well... And it may not just be tubed preamps, I hear there's a little darting Dartzeel on the way as well...
Anybody tried EMM DCC2 into preamp? Magnepan 20.1, Omega mono blocs, VPI HR-X, Meitner CDSD.
Anybody tried EMM DCC2 into preamp? I'm not sure that's true. I'll have to do further listening, but there does seem to be more detail using a tubed preamp, which was counter to what I expected. I, too, assumed that an extra interconnect and preamp would degrade, not improve, the si... |
