Tube hiss - any idea what's causing it? Herman - I definitely had "hiss"...constant very low level background noise in L channel as I recall. Could really only hear it when the volume was cranked all the way up with nothing playing. It was noticeable however as previously the JoLida had...
Tube hiss - any idea what's causing it? Try moving them around. I had some hissing and rotated all - Power and Pre-amp tubes, Left to Right. Checked bias and adjusted as needed. The hissing went away. Thought in my case it might have been an oxidized connection that changing out "fixed"...
How many hours weekly do you listen to your system Listen to music way more than watch TV. My wife tends to monopolize the remote (talk about role reversal) and favors "design" and "real estate" shows...interesting to me in limited doses. Listen 5-10 hrs during the week. Another 5 or so on weekend...
Be nice to nOobs David - Welcome. I'm relatively new to Audiogon myself.Don't be put off by the lack of response. I've encountered this on a very few occasions. Mainly folks have been prompt and gracious in their replies. Even when following up with an emailed que...
What are the treasures in your vinyl library? Emailists - What is Quiex vs Nightly relative to the Mr Heartbreak LP?I just have it on regular release vinyl. The bells at the beginning of "Gravity's Angel" amaze me. The entire LP is very well recorded.

What are the treasures in your vinyl library? Hey - Johnny...might have mis-interpreted your initial post. I have no idea the monetary value of the discs I listed. Probably have some things that are worth more. But these are "treasures" to me.

Totem response re: recommended tube amp for Sttaf I posted to your other thread but it sounds like you are well down the path to a decision. That's great! Have fun...let us know how things turn out.
Shout out for Better Records Rosedanny - Absolutely. I share the same conflict about paying hundreds for an Lp. My idea of fun is finding a few hours to spend rummaging around flea markets or antique shops looking for cheap vinyl. As you, take it home, clean it up and see wha...
Moving away from tubes. Is this a good idea? Djh - You've already received a lot of good input...I only risk boring you with my experience because it might help allay some of your concerns. I went to an integrated tube amp several years ago and haven't looked back. I didn't have all that muc...
Shout out for Better Records I'll second Rosedanny's comments re packaging and prompt delivery. Ever the bargain hunter - I bought some very affordable, normally priced vinyl from Better Records...1 used (The Band's "Rock of Ages") and 1 new (Captain Beefheart's, "Magic Spot"...
balanced power Folks - That was really helpful. I've wondered myself what "balanced power" meant. Now I at least have a clue.Thanks. Chris - good question!
Loud bad noises The DAC has been out of the chain while the Cambridge CDP is back in with the MF tube buffer. No loud bad noises and all has been good for weeks. The DAC is in for servicing but nothing wrong can be found with it so far. I'm told this model (Theta...
