Who actually uses digital speakers?
Not me.   At least at this time in technology development it does not seem like a compelling configuration. Yes, Meridian was at the forefront of developing and selling this… but they have been slowly disappearing from main stream. I still have a...
Well I joined the Silversmith FIDELIUM Speaker cable club today
@emil  Wow, you have had a terrible history with equipment! In fifty years I have never had  failures like that. After 2 or three years I had a cd transport fail… that was replaced free… but never a non mechanical failure… let alone two.
Has anyone compared Rogue RP-7 to Cary SLP05 and / or Audio Research Ref 5se?
My feeling… just on Audio Research is that the Reference 1 and 2 had some growing pains that finally got purged with the REF 3… since then each model like 3 then 3se… stepped forward with great certainty and has continued to push the envelope ever...
Turntable noobie...what advice do you have?
@oldaudiophile    Good advice. You can push the dust and crud around, but bing able to really clean an album really makes a big difference. I now own a Nessie… wonderfully small and quiet.
Question about speaker angle
@fstein    I hope this was when you were young.
Can a DAC sort out a flat\cold amp?
OP,    Thanks for the update. congratulations, this should be fun for you.   I look forward to hearing your impressions when you get your subwoofer.
which is a better speaker
OP, Sorry but you have to invest some effort if you want useful feedback. What is your experience level, what kind of sound are you looking for? What kind of room?    You got a lot of thoughtful advice given the seconds you put into a one line q...
Competitive class D amp suggestions
@smargo  “i probably have said that im not in the market for a new amp - about 100 times”.   😊😀, yep, that can happen.
Is there a DAC ranking list?
I would make the analogy of DACs more akin to automotive as opposed to burgers. You want a Volkswagen, Lexus, or Porsche. They all perform the same function… many are superior in every way… but there is an element of taste.
Spendor D9.2 Run In
Congratulations on your purchase. I have not heard them… most speakers at least a hundred hours. Typically most speakers are trebly and have wooly or flabby bass… don’t panic. Nothing worse than mixed feelings about a new purchase.  If you put s...
Audioquest Storm Series power cables
I have not been an Audio Quest fan in the past. But my dealer brought over a Hurricane for me to try versus several versions of Cardas I had. It was the largest improvement I have heard from a power cord.    The difference was much larger than th...
Question about speaker angle
Experimentation always required. Starting position, “cross the beams” 18” behind your head in the listening position. I put a tall object behind my listening chair and use a laser measurer to point the speakers. This has the added value of checkin...
Turntable noobie...what advice do you have?
The albums I have from when I was a teenager… not well cared for generally, sound fantastic. I use a Nessie record cleaner and use Last treatment. My current turntable stylist drops deeper into the groove and produced great sound even from most of...
which is a better speaker
First, has your receiver been renovated? All the caps replaced and reostates cleaned, etc? I have a 1970’s Marantz integrated amplifier… it is fun to look at, but sounds terrible, honestly I could buy a Schiit Amp for $500 that sounds much better....
Competitive class D amp suggestions
@axo0oxa,   Thanks for the excellent post. Thoughtful and detailed. I am not in the market for a new amp, but have always wondered / been suspicious of Class D. Having been in this pursuit for over 50 years… new ideas frequently fail instantly t...
