Moved from medium attic like room to larger room, everything is too bright
Lots of good comments. Room treatments and positioning… definitely. Some photos of your system (add to virtual system under your UserID)and room would be very helpful in getting more specific.
looking for a more efficient speaker.....
What are the other components in your system? A system is the sum of all components  it might be better to swap the amp… your speakers are generally thought to sound very good. But that will depend on the space you have them in.  There is a place ...
Price Isn't Always Indicitive of Quality or Performance
@wesheadley   Nice rant. Have you heard a $30K turntable… and a $300K turntable or amp? Could you please document your sound preferences and equipment in each of these categories? Or is this just theoretical?
MM, MC, or MI cartridge
@sokogear    I had a van Den Hull cartridge for nearly 20 years… over 2,000 hours and was still going strong when I traded it in with the TT. Great investment.
The new dynamic in speaker pricing
Honestly, we should be really happy there are people out there that will buy top of the line million dollar speakers, cause the trickle down effect on technology will give us better speakers.
Are You Happy With Your Phono Preamp?
@skucie  Similar experience to me. For me it was a ARC PH3SE to a ARC PH8 and then to a ARC REF 3… each move was amazing… as in how can this make such a big difference.    I am currently listening to Miles on my system… amazing.
2019 Mac Pro vs. Roon
@noob504   Great. sounds like you have some really good equipment. Then as a rule of thumb… subject to your own tastes… I would recommend looking at DACs and streamers in the $6K each range. The real trick is to get stuff that is of the same ca...
Excellent Bi-Wire speaker cables?
@akg_ca    Thanks. Really interesting post. It certainly does not violate any observation I have made and supports others. I used to run my speakers with a biwired Cardas Gold Reference.. but honestly never compared with the single or other. It ...
Need an integrated amp that sounds engaging at lower volume
I would look at Linn. I can vouch for their high end streamer. While I have technically heard their all in one solution, I wasn’t really paying attention. But worth checking it out. Over the last decade or so, they really put some engineering effo...
Turn down the Volume!
@mijostyn  +1
Unfinished basement listening room
Cool. Nice. Looks like fun. You have done quite a few treatments. The unfinished aspects may be working a bit in your favor. I would definitely haul your heavy amp down. A dedicated area that you can change is much better than big compromises in m...
Has anyone bought the Psvane Acme 300B Vacuum Tube?
I did a lot of research before upgrading my Woo headphone amp. The reviews pretty unanimously pointed to Takatsuki 300Bs. The difference between stock and the Takatsuki was phenomenal. While I did not buy and listen to half a dozen… I have been am...
2019 Mac Pro vs. Roon
OP, Maybe I failed to ask about your other equipment. Your preamp, amp and speakers need to be of a certain resolution and low noise floor before discussions of the difference between PCs and streamers become relevant. This is a gross generaliza...
What do you consider the most when choosing a pair of speakers?
@henry53 …”Does my foot tap, if not don't buy them.”   👍 The intuitive rhythm and pace test. This definitely a critical test.
Is it me or new audio gear is too perfect and give ear fatigue?
I have heard many fatiguing systems like you describe. Typically the higher end the less “fatigue” will be involved. The inexpensive stuff typically has a very high noise floor (this is subtle to hear directly for the non-trained ear… it just mani...
