Subwoofer boom is too much for me...
Subwoofers can be extremely sound quality enhancing. On of the most notable thinks is to extend the sound stage. But proper integration take effort and knowledge. Just indiscriminately fiddling with the volume and crossovers or randomly moving aro... 
SPDIF Coax cable recommendation?
My default for relatively inexpensive cables is always DHLabs. I find them very cost effective… and reliably good sounding, unless your system is too bright.

Streaming need be no more difficult than the rest of your system. You simply need the highest quality streamer and DAC you can afford. Do your research about the quality and sound characteristics of each. The value of each should be about the same...

As an older dude, recommending something to a younger dude. I would spring for the better phono stage before investing in the expensive turntable.    This way, when you make a change you get to hear it.

As far as stuff between the speakers. In general, yes it usually screws up the imaging. It is unfortunately, like everything in audio, somewhat dependent. I had apogee ribbon speakers for many years… for some reason the equipment rack did not make...

While my equipment is not sensitive, I am. I hate getting shocked. So, I walk around barefoot. Problem solved.

OP, 👍 I find I am glad to be able to trade money for services (I am only 70, but, some things I no longer do, and am very appreciative of folks that can do it for me).
