Seller Silence
I understand your frustration. If you get interested in buying something and are met with no response. It has happened to me and by and large has resulted in me not shopping used. When I make a decision to pursue something I want to move forward. ...
Input output cable question
I have a Aurender W20SE and the output of the AES is subtly better… keeping the quality of the interconnect the same.
Room Acoustics and Speaker Placement
Option 2.  You can differentially decorate the sidewall the at is closer to the speaker to absorb a bit more. Open behind is great, since the great depth will eliminate rear reflections. And as a bonus, it will probably sound better in the dinnin...
Acoustics experts - a little help please
OP,  Glad you are hearing good results by changing what is between the speakers. Once I start fiddling with the stuff in between my speakers, I realized I could easily hear the hole they created in the sound stage. I motivated me to eliminate the...

@Richardbrand +1  I find the best recordings are done this way. They get the venue / ambience correct. Like you are in attendance.  I was reading an album cover recently... the notes went on and on about was a great recording this was, the grea...
Flatscreen between speakers
OP, Good to have picked cotton. I use a very densely woven wool carpet (See my virtual system). It weighs at least twenty or thirty pounds. It is highly absorbent and dense. Over the years I have experimented a lot. A couple inches thickness of c...
Tube Pre-amp Suggestions.
A stand alone DAC that also performs the function of a preamp is very unlikely to come even remotely close to the performance of a stand alone preamp. Companies have been founded on building great preamps and the best today are still built on two ...
use of ChatGPT for HIFI
As a casual user of AI. I have found its recommendations generally very good on sonic characteristics of equipment and general questions. But very bad at specific recommendations. It will often recommend the wrong piece of equipment... like I want...
Flatscreen between speakers
OP, What material did you choose for the "dust cover". The photo looks like vinyl, but it seems to come in many materials. I don't think vinyl will be much better than the naked tv. It needs to be absorbent for most speakers. Some ribbon speakers...

Congratulations. Anything you did in particular that brought your rig to its current level of performance?   Great album, I'm listening to it now. Great liner notes about the speed wars and background. One of the great albums recorded in the '57...
Best practices for speaker cabinet care
I have seven B&W 800 series speakers and they are good with lemon oil. As @oddiofyl points out some are have many coats of varnish like Sonus Faber I only use a swifter on mine. I use white gloves is I move them. They have the most beautiful f...
Odd DAC Pricing
Ive listened to quite a few Linn's. A friend bought one, then upgraded. They are quite good.
plinth material
I'd have a look at the new Linn plinth. I have heard from a friend that is sounds great... maybe not enough for me to justify buying. Might help with material and construction.
Odd DAC Pricing
@verdantaudio "...It is competitive at is price of $13k. " +1 I find this true to be more often than not. Accounting for differences in flavors (house sound) anyone making a component for over $3-5K and up has done a lot of comparisons and must ...
Is there a ROON sound?
I would imagine that significant audible sound differences come from the hardware chain and not so much the software. It is possible to compare on cheap noisy computers and inexpensive audio equipment and incredibly high quality audio equipment......
