Linn CD12 MK3
First, I just love the sound of R2R Multibit D to A convertors for doing Redbook (PCM) conversion, as they do it "bit perfect" compared to any Delta Sigma (DSD) based cdp/dacs I’ve heard, which always seem to disappoint me on Redbook replay. And t...
Good replacement for b&w 804 matrix tweeters
I wouldn’t change the whole tweeter for something else, they’ll never sound the same.If your handy you could just replace in internal cone/coil, it’s not that hard, takes around 1/2hr. I do believe that you can get just replacement diaphragm/coil ...
Cary Audio DAC 200 ts Opinions
If you just play Redbook the Schitt is the way to go, as it will convert redbook (pcm) "bit perfect".But if you want to play dsd then the only answer is the Cary, and you'll take a bit of a hit doing redbook (pcm).Cheers George
Pop/crack on power up, followed by audible tweeter hiss
Read first two paragraphs and there's plenty more on other brands as well, and this explanation is quite a bit watered down as well.http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/nuforce2/9_2.html Cheers George
Martin Logan Spire
The Spire and Aerius both go down to around 50hz then roll off quickly after that, if your sub can be crossed over at say 40hz you should be fine.Cheers George
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
Just to who the voodoo'ist are, for a reference not to believe anything they say in future posts on any topic.Cheers George
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
This thread has disintegrated to where it deserves to be, and is a total waste of the forums server hard drive space.Cheers George

Not normal for all Class D's (  it depends on filter cutoff frequency), but some that I have had experience with yes. And for yours I can't tell unless I had it on the test bench, but it sure sounds like it, as what you describe has all the hall ma...
Pop/crack on power up, followed by audible tweeter hiss
The hiss noise is not volume control dependent on class D’s, which means it does not emanate from the gain stage. It’s there on some that have too higher set a final roll/off filter, eg flat to 20khz or more. And this lets through the switching no...
Linn CD12 MK3
samie That's why I pay attention on the Linn CD12 limited MK3 (with 6 digits serial number). If this limited CD12 mk3 is too difficult to find, I'll give a try on others instead. I know this is old, but I have one of these CD12 MkIII's that a frie...

NuPrime is a Class D amp. Some ClassD’s do sometimes have a nasty (edgy) turn on sound, not a soft bump that some linear amps have. And they can also depending on the output filters roll off point, emit HF continual noise from the tweeters. I’ve se...
Adding sub to Sonus Faver Guarneri Evolutions...need advice where to set crossover on sub
As you also said first pick 0 or 180 which ever sounds best then move the sub back or bring forward a few inches to get what’s in-between to further get it in phase.Cheers George
Wilson Watt Puppy 7 or Sophia 2 for my room and gear?
Look and read about the first graph on each speaker.Your amp will be challenged around 50hz-100hz with the WP7’s, but should be just ok for the Sophia’s. Most Wilsons tend to need bags of current for the best bass, and good meaty S/S amps with bi-...
Adding sub to Sonus Faver Guarneri Evolutions...need advice where to set crossover on sub
Looking at the graph I would bring the sub in around 50hz-60hz. Don't forget to try reversing the phase on the sub as well to see which sound more linear.http://cdn.stereophile.com/images/112Sfgfig4.jpg Cheers George

If your talking rears for the om5's in a dolby surround sound setup, fine. But if your talking adding them both together in a stereo setup, it will be a total stuff up, especially through the mids and highs, as the ML's will be faster and the OM5's...
