Who listens primarily to Redbook CD?
One can't help wondering if copying an audio cassette would also result in a copy that sounded better than the original. Or is that just too crazy?
Easy free tweak -- dealing with RFI/EMI -- try it and see?
For the same reason all transformers, especially those big honking output transformers, should be wrapped with low frequency high permeability mu metal. For very best results wrap the transformer twice leaving a 1/4" space between the sheets. As f...

Bingo! The magnetic field produced by the door is bad news. It's got nothing to do with RFI/EMI.
Who listens primarily to Redbook CD?
"I read in another thread some folks saying their ripped (CD) contents sounded better than original CD. Is that technically possible or its just the differences between the components in the audio path, e.g., CDP vs. NAS, etc., that are contributi...
Burn-in question
That's a stretch. Besides, the Cable Cooker customers have no financial interest in making that observation.  Don't be such a conspiracy theorist.
When and what was your last significant equipment upgrade?
Replaced Radio Shack Pro 35 Titanium headphones for portable Walkman cassette player with Grado SR 80 headphones.
Burn-in question
The manufacturer and owners of the high end burn in device Cable Cooker by Kafton actually report that re-burning cables in say, once a year is effective, so one might reasonably conclude that yes, burn-in is not permanent. Not to mention the conc...
Morrow SP7 Upgrade.
Are you looking in the mirror, Wolfman?
Anticables
One more question. The Anticables speaker wires are unshielded, correct?
Anticables
Just curious, are the Anti Cable speaker wires directional?
Why demagnitize an optical reader?
I’m not a big fan of the magnetic ink theory for the simple reason the ink on the CD label could only contain trace ferrous material, at best. I.e., not enough ferrous material to produce a magnetic field of sufficient strength to affect either th...
Morrow SP7 Upgrade.
Wolfie said,"...all the while wondering if signal really does travel through a cable driven by a preamp toward an amp that is off."So, in your mental travels what did you finally come up with, Pumpkin?
Why demagnitize an optical reader?
The problem with the explanation in the last post is that the electric static charge on a CD is entirely different from a magnetic field. A demagnetizer removes a magnetic field, assuming there is one, whereas an anti static fluid or ionizer is re...
Has anyone had experiences good or bad with speaker isolation or isolation in general ?
Once you let them get a foothold in your house it can be very hard to get rid of them.
Why demagnitize an optical reader?
One imagines the naysayers would have a conniption if people said that demagnetizers work for interconnects, just like for CDs and vinyl, you know, given that there are no magnetizable elements in the conductors or anywhere else in the interconnec...
