Synergy Matching
Hegel, SME, Shunyata Research, Wilson... works very nicely.
Great Intergated amp with great built in DAC
Another Hegel H390 vote. Just excellent.
Cable droop
@oldhvymec, my cables are behind my rack etc, so really aren’t seen. However, hanging them creatively would be very cool if visible. Works great for me.
Cable droop
I use hangers on the wall, or buy longer cables.
Shipping. Hard Lesson.
I learned the hard way that the packing companies don’t have a clue when it comes to packaging amps etc. Absolute best bet is factory packaging. In lieu of that, double boxed with copious packing material. Bubble wrap isn’t a good option. Heavy pa...
What are you streaming tonight?
Nip Tuck soundtrack from the NAS...
What have you been working on in 2020?
Buying and selling... integrated to separates back to integrated... thinking about trying some DIY interconnects. Looking at Furutech cabling and RCA’s... for a 10’ run still looking at 400ish for the parts/cable alone... ouchy bro.
I think some cables are just a little too expensive.
@glubson You said it yourself. The vast majority of those institutions are supported by DONATIONS... in other words, by the PEOPLE. We are BY FAR the most giving society in the world. Why? Because we the people, CAN. Our people are not being saved...

Simple reality, if they didn’t sell them, they wouldn’t make them. And the premise that ANYONE would ALLOW an individual to make whatever amount of money is offensive.
What has been your costliest mistake in this hobby?
@tinear124. I’ve got one that is similar. I was replacing a blown woofer in a set of “expensive” speakers. Removed without issue with a powered screwdriver... then upon reinstalling, the screwdriver slipped and yep... straight through the woofer. ...
Why are there so many wooden speakers?
X-Material... need I say more? MDF is dense, cheap and easy to manipulate. And overall, it works. That’s why.
You know you are an Audiophile when:
You “pet” your speakers when you walk by them...
Why was the entry level line at Audio Research eliminated?
I think part of the reason is the reality of the used market. If a company comes out with product X at whatever entry level price point, but one can get a hold of an upper line model gently used for similar money, that shallows the pool IMO. In th...

Hmm, I called ARC with a few tube questions not too long ago and had fairly long chat with them.
Wilson Alexia 2
I use a Parasound JC5 for my Alexia 1’s. Space realities don’t allow for mono’s. The rest of my system is Audio Research and SME. The JC5 is essentially the JC1’s distilled down to one unit. Sounds great. Excellent bang for the buck!
