Audioquest buys GoldenEar
Thankfully, the Vandersteen kids are involved in the business, so my speakers should be safe for another generation.B
Why are brick and mortar HiFi dealers so bad?
I once concurred with the OP, but then I met John Rutan at Audioconnection. He’s the only dealer I have found in 40 years that not only knows his stuff, and doesn’t try to sell you anything until your are ready.Bob
Bluos and youtube music
If you mean, through the Bluesound Controller App, then I don't think it is available. But, if you have a computer, then you would simply connect the computer to the Node and listen away.B
Need tips to better my sound
Wow, some rather cynical posts so far.In any case, OP, I second (third) the Bluesound Node. The onboard DAC is pretty good-especially for the price- and you can upgrade to a separate DAC should you find the need.Given you current system, I think it...
Parasound JC 1 monoblocks with Ayre KX-5 Twenty preamp?
That sound like a fun project. For my main system, I have Ayre (MX-R's and KX-R) for the summer. And Atma Sphere (MA-1's and MP-1) for the winter. Now that I can afford it, I find it nice to change things around once and a while.Bob
Vandersteen Treo CT vs. 5A
I agree with Tomic, the Treo's and sub for sale here on Audiogon are priced very competitively. (in fact the owner lives only a few miles from me). And to be honest, I was thinking of buying them myself...But, I own the non-CT's and they aren't ab...
Parasound JC 1 monoblocks with Ayre KX-5 Twenty preamp?
There is nothing like Ayre's zero feedback and fully balanced designs. And, I think you have one fine system, as it stands. The only way to know is to try, but if moving those amps upstairs will be too much work, I would leave things as they are.Bob
Floor protection from spikes
Herbie's sells nice gliders for using under spikes.Cheep too.I would be wary of sorbothane as it might stain wood surfaces.Another alternative is to get either butcher block or marble plinths made.I know Richard Vandersteen swears by marble under ...
Vandersteen Treo CT vs. 5A
@dawgfish The Treo's don't have integrated subs. He was comparing Treo's to 5a's.B
New Speaker Conundrum - Vandy's, Spendors, Salk, Ascend - Mainstream or ID
@tomic601 .Wow, that sounds like a great plan.Bob

Vandersteen Treo CT vs. 5A
I, too, started with the 3a sigs, and now own the Treo non-CT's.I used both with a pair of 2wq subs (hopefully upgrading to the Sub 3's soon).I can tell you you won't be disappointed if you make the move to the Treo's. To me, the Treo's offer an e...
Subwoofers and Phase Question For You Sub Experts
@rooze ,Well, there is always Vandersteen. The new Sub 3 has a built in equalizer. BTW, I own both the Hsu and Vandy subs (2wq) for 2 systems, and the Vandersteen subs are by far more subtle and better integrated than I can get with the Hsu's. Don'...

New Speaker Conundrum - Vandy's, Spendors, Salk, Ascend - Mainstream or ID
@OP,  I was speaking with another Audiogon member who is contemplating the DIs and I really do not want him to be swayed by my comments. I completely get what you are saying. But, when it comes down to it, I think letting the other member read w...
