Accounting for slight hearing loss
@OP, I suffer from the same 'problem'.After 30+ years, I just accept it for what it is- My hearing isn't perfect. One easy fix is to tow in one speaker a bit/point the other speaker out.Not exactly high tech, but it helps, and doesn't cost anything...
Looking for a plenum-rated balanced cable that won't require a second mortgage
The first thing I would make sure of is that the equipment you are using supports the AES 48 standard. If so, then any cable with 'plenum-rated' casing should be as good as any other. If you don't believe me, ask/PM Ralph Karsten (Atmasphere). The wh...
Help! High level subwoofer input on a class D amp introduces ground loop.
@OP,I am not ES or Al, but I have two systems running with 2 subs, one with a high pass filter (Vandersteen), the other running full output from preamp, and using the sub's crossover. In my limited opinion, the high pass system is far more integrat...
Direct or Reflect ... What's your flavor
@Tomic. I just walk a few feet and activate the rear firing 100% distortion rear firing tweeter on my Vandersteen@I don't understand what you are saying. The rear tweeter is 100% distortion?Bob
Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord?
@ozzy ,Thanks for posting. I am beginning to think that is the way to go, as well.I just replaced an Equi+Core with an AQ 1000, and wish I had done that to begin with. I just got caught up with all the hype and also had my money tied up when the c...
small footprint Class A mono blocks and pre amplifier
McCormack Micro Power Drive and Line Drive.Though the amp is probably A/B/B
Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord?
@aniwolfe .I got a pair of Deep Core's. So far, no issue, but to be honest I really haven't noticed a great deal of change in my systems after installing it. But, then again I really didn't do an A/B test. B

New Breaker Box-Should I upgrade?
Don't let the door hit you on the way out.B
Speaker manufacturers or box manufacturers with off the shelf drivers?
I'm the expert here when it comes to questions like this 🤭Yeah, right.B
Through unfortunate circumstances........
And, given the age of the equipment, I would have it checked out.The caps on the amplifiers will probably need replacing.Bob
Looking for a DAC w/ balanced XLR line out, budget $1k
Unfortunately, balanced line out players don't come cheap.I recommend an Aurender A10- way above your budget, but after getting a N100 after my Bluesound Node, I can honestly say it is superior.Bob
Integrated tube amp with usb dac advice please
I would rather purchase the DAC separately from the preamp.Considering how DAC technology is moving, buying an All-in-One, means you are stuck with possibly outdated tech-unless the manufacturer offers upgrades.Bob
Looking for a DAC w/ balanced XLR line out, budget $1k
A used Ayre Codex or a Schiit Gungnir Multibit. The former might be a bit more, but I have seen a few just under $1k. The Gungnir should be under $1K.To be honest, the Codex is the better of the two.Bob
Through unfortunate circumstances........
You only need a DAC if you want to stream music/play music from a digital source(computer/NAS) or play music from a CD transport (a CD player has the DAC built in).It also depends upon how 'high-end' you want to go, as separate DAC's will provide ...
