Hi-res streaming on Qobuz
@ OP,Hey Richard,I use an Ayre Codex and Bluesound Node for streaming. The Ayre shows the output on it's display. I can definitely hear a difference between 44 and 96.Perhaps you can get a Bluesound Node instead of the Arcam. Though Bluesound supp...
Wanting to get back into the hobby and want to start with the speakers.
The Adcom amps are solid- Nelson Pass helped design them.I had them for decades. They still worked when I sold them 30 years later. As far as speakers go, I think you need to set aside some time and visit as many dealers as possible. That way, you ...
Your thoughts about an upgrade
@OP,Congrats on a great system/choice!Break in is one of those things that varies, at least to me. Some things require a couple hundred hours to settle in, others more.As for the Vandy's, I would suspect at least 200 hours. More would be better, i...
SS vs. Tubes with Vandersteen 2ce sig II
@OP,Hmm, your experience mimics mine- though I am using Atma Sphere.I really like the Atma sound, but I have to say when I switch to Ayre, things seem to be a bit more punchy and tighter.I have no intention of dropping tubes. In fact, I use them f...
Length of speaker cables
@lolroyy4,Uneven speaker cables are generally considered a no-no, especially when using them at long runs. There might be issues with capacitance, as well as cable artifacts. Perhaps eric squires will chime in?Bob
Reasonably Priced Bookshelf Speakers
@OP, Look for the most recent vintage of Vandy's.Mr. V. continually adds improvements to his speakers, even if he hasn't labeled them so.In this case, the Vandy VLR wood. There is a pair for sale on Canuck Audio Mart.- And, well priced, too.B
Router extender.
I use the Orbi system, mostly because Verizon touts it.It seems to work well, even allowing me to add wireless to a property across the street from me.B
Reasonably Priced Bookshelf Speakers
The Vandy VLR's would fit your needs perfectly. Designed for bookshelf placement-in fact, placing them near corners is perfect. They can sound unbelievable when given the right equipment.I have a pair for my office. The Treo's are in my main liste...
Has anyone compared old to new Audioquest Cables???
@mammothguy54,Great post!Your experience mimics mine. The new cables/conditioners Garth Powell is releasing are undoubtedly the best AQ has made. There will be doubters, but, those of us who have heard the difference, know better.Bob
Has anyone compared old to new Audioquest Cables???
@bigkidz ,You know John Rutan is the font of information when it comes to AQ cables.😁 I don't know why you haven't contacted him? But, if you don't want to call him, I can tell you the newest cables from AQ are really something special.Listening to...
Maggies to Tekton?
As they have a trial period, why not give them a try to see if they float your boat? For me, I would pass. I know and love the Maggie sound, and any non electrostatic speaker other than Vandersteen isn't going to make it.But, be advised, I have se...
Best WiFi Music Streamer Does it exist?
Bluesound Nodes or an Aurender N100.The former has a formidable list of streaming services, the latter is either Qobuz or Tidal.Bob
Is this an Upgrade or a Lateral Move?
-Hard to make recommendations without knowing what the rest of your system comprises.B
This is DigDug's Wife; DigDug passed away. Need advice on selling sound absorbing panels
@OP,Sorry to hear about your husband. As far as pricing goes, I suggest looking at HifiShark, scroll to filters and you can limit what you want to see, then check on 'Sold'. You should get an idea of what prices have been for your merchandise.HTHBob
Power Conditioners
@facten  ,+1.A whole house surge protector is a great investment. The units are self sacrificing, but at least you will protect everything downstream.Bob
