Length of speaker cables @b4icu,If I read it correctly, the 6 foot cables are the speaker cables, not interconnects. And, though your 8 guage wire will probably sound good, I can tell you it won't hold a candle to AQ cables, let alone the William Tell.- And, this is coming...
Speaker cables under floorboards - a good or bad idea? I disagree with millercabon.I think running the cables underneath the floor in a conduit would be a good way to go. If anything you could change, I would opt for some Audioquest cables with DBS-Like the GO-4-Good but not cost prohibitive.Bob
Neutral Sounding Tube Amps - what gives? @ozzy62 ,Sorry you feel that way. But, I hope you don't run into that Panda. You know, he: 'eats, shoot and leaves'.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eats,_Shoots_%26_LeavesB
Speaker Choices For My System @verdantaudio,+1Though I would put the Vandy Treo's at the top of the list.Bob
Neutral Sounding Tube Amps - what gives? @ebm .You're. Sorry for being pedantic.-Though if you mean SS can offer Tubes 'sound', then I agree.B
Charging A Fee To Demo An Amplifier In A Brick & Mortar Store Though I can understand the dealer's point of view, I can't accept it completely.Given that the amps are used and fairly expensive, I see no reason to charge for an audition. Exactly how many people are wanting to audition these amps? When I bought...
Speaker Choices For My System Well, most know me as a Vandersteen fan here, but your list is a pretty good one. As I have said before, you really have to listen to a speaker to know if it floats your boat.At $10K, should you buy used will give you a greater field to choose fro...
McCormack Amps No Longer Manufactured? Steve is alive and well in Cali.SMcAudio is his company. He still upgrades the older McCormack's. Basically using the case and installing new boards and components. He has built DNA-1 monoblocks, Micro power amp monoblocks and upgraded a Microline D...
Update on Audiogon Member Almarg A very sad day for me.I always find Almarg's post to be spot on and ones to be trusted implicitly.Hopefully, he can listen to music to his hearts content.Bob
SS vs. Tubes with Vandersteen 2ce sig II Them's two nice nice amps.I will await your opinion. I have never listened to either, but I do know they are well respected manufacturers.Bob
Ground loop feedback - cable wire issue To lift a ground means you remove the ground pin.You can do this by either removing the ground pin from the plug (not recommended), or using a ground cheater:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheater_plug.As your Marantz has only 2 prongs, then this i...
Help me understand "the swarm" in the broader audiophile world Even Richard Vandersteen believes that multiple subs are better than one or two.PM ctsooner. He spoke with Mr. V. about this not long ago.Though I have to say the new Sub 3 with equalization will probably be very close to multiple subwoofers.I wil...
Bluesound Node Issues After the Firmware Upgrade @rocray,Oh, ye of little faith...😉The fact that Bluesound is still working to keep all previous iterations of the Node current means that they will probably do so in the future. And, considering how old and how little the original Node's cost, it ...
SS vs. Tubes with Vandersteen 2ce sig II @OP, Glad to be of service. That is what this forum is for.Johnny is one of the best dealers out there. And, believe me, as a NYC guy, I came to hate dealers with a passion. But, Mr. Rutan broke the mold.Bob
Sub Question. One higher quality sub or two lesser quality? (Rythmik vs HSU) I own HSU subs and Vandersteen. The HSU's are very good for the money. The Vandy's, with their crossovers, are, in my opinion, the best- easy integration, and built like tanks, unlike many brands. ( I would do a search here on Audiogon. I remember ... |
