How old are you?
I am 54 and I blame my big brother, 60, for this hobby.
Interesting discovery when my carpets were cleaned yesterday!
The Gaias didn’t really work with speaker stands when I tried them.
Moving to France
The voltage in France is 230V.
the sound of massed violins in classical orchestral recordings
Massed violins are not only difficult through playback, they often sound off in a bad concert hall or a bad seat in a good concert hall.
100v,115v versus 230v
But you in the US use higher amperage fuses in your equipment and they sound better! And the us power plug is probably a better, firmer fit in the receptacle than the round blades of Schuko in mainland Europe.
Best Speakers for a small Nearfield room, budget at most $10000 (used is also ok)
Raidho c1.1 (and up) will be boomy in that room, unfortunately.
Lumin or Aurender
Lumin T2 and Ether Regen will guarantee enjoyment. And there is a possibility of an aftermarket external power supply with just a little tweaking.
Anyone with tinnitus or hearing loss who is into "high-end" audio?
Yes, I have tinnitus and some hearing loss in left ear which has gotten worse because of tension neck problems. The more I sit on a couch, the worse it gets. Because of it my left ear is extremely sensitive to any problems in the rig. I have found...
Does raising speaker cables off the floor really make a big difference?
Does this mostly apply to carpeted floors?
Something For The Fuse Guys ...
Talking about fuse directionality, Hifi Tuning has a logo with a diode symbol in it. At some point people began believing this diode-arrow was the factory tested recommended direction of the fuse. But it was not, it is just a logo. Personally I do...
Supra Sword speakercable:
Supra cables are incredible value. Maybe the best value available. But the color. The color! The horror! The horror!
Pin point imaging isn't for everyone
People say there is no pinpoint imaging in a big concert hall. But if you were standing at the conductor’s place, you would hear pinpoint imaging and soundstage depth. That’s where the microphones often are too, a bit behind the conductor, above h...
What are some of the most underrated and overrated loudspeakers you’ve auditioned?
Harbeth p3esr or any LS3/5A. They are good for listening radio drama. Are they good for much else? I did own a pair and they killed my interest in most music.
The best looking speakers
PMC Twenty5 series is very easy on the eye, they almost disappear in a good way. Very good in Scandinavian style interiors with parquet floors.
Raidho D1.1 is now a Legacy speaker
In Denmark you would never get 40-50% discount of a Raidho speaker. It seems you have to ship them across the pond for that.
