Comparing the Denon 3803 with the Onkyo TX-SR800
Both of those receivers are going to be close. I would give the nod to the Denon 3803 however for resolution of soundstage. I've heard both in different systems however. But I don't think you'd lose with either.Good luck
For my HT what would be better for rear speakers..
What main and center speakers are you using? You should stick with the same manufacture if at all possible. If you do have Paradigms up front, I suggest the MUCH MORE LISTENABLE ADP's! At the end of the day, no matter what people say, it's going to...
Need help with a receiver for my HT.
I think all three of the first posts above mentioned are good choices for what you're considering. Onkyo makes some good pieces, as does the old used Sony STRG777ES, Yamaha RXV800/1000 series(but a little less warm bodied than the others, which mi...
Help: crossover for Thiels and Velodyne sub?
Update: I might be mistaken on the Paradigm X20, thinking it could be used "speaker level" from the unit to a subwoofer. I was checking out this piece on the net, and assumed it to have speaker level connections for sub and mains. It might only ha...
Help: crossover for Thiels and Velodyne sub?
Here-in lies a common problem once again! Most always, playing in pure analog pre/amp/speakers/sub combo, the mains seem to sound more "pure" playing full range out of a preamp to amp connection. When you put some sort of crossover network in the ...
Sub Set up Final Exam Question
Yet another common situation! There's lot's of this sort of thing out there, with high end or otherwise! This is why, time and time again, I always try to recommend people to PLEASE ENLIST THE HELP OF QUALIFIED, EXPERIENCE, SKILLED PROFESSIONALS! ...
I need some clarity
Do you want the old clarity or the new and improved clarity?
Oppinions on the Thiel 2.3's
I've owned the Thiel 2.3's in the past. And I'd own them again, sure. They do need a very strong, high current amp to make em come alive dynamically. They also do well with an active preamp. I think solid state high current amps work well with the...
Looking for recommendations to use Rives Audio ...
You could do it yourself...but then again my experience from 20 years in this business says that you'll not end up with as good of results that way! Letting an experienced professional with a track record do it for your is just about garanteed to ...
Need your Opinion
Both amps are likely going to have enough power to handle the dynamics and soundstage you want from the speakers. The Krells are strong! The Full Power Ballance is going to sound better however, in most all respects. If you need an upgrade in over...
My room 12'x 9' with 8' ceilings will it sound OK?
IT can be done respectably with the right knowledge, care, planning, tweeking, and gear sellection, yes. It is not going to be easy for the novice in my experience. There should be some consideration for acoustic treatments, and perhaps a lot of c...
Tube amps and rock music...
What speakers are you using? If your using lower sensitivity/efficiency speakers, you may have a problem with more demanding source material. Also, powered subwoofers work better for bass than most conventional passive speaker woofers(ported or ot...
Aragon 8008BB amp
Good amp, same performance level as Classe(sweeter, but less power), Bryston(wamer sound), Entry level Krell(krell has more extension, but "cooler" sound). I think the Aragon is worth a try, and is a good balanced amp, with lots of current, good d...
Psb Platinum speakers
Yeah I'd be interested to have someone keep us posted on oppinions on these speakers.
Is it taboo to mod a speaker?
Moding speakers is always something(like anything else), that you can try, indeed. You just have to do "one thing at a time", and see what you've got when you do a modification! If it works, you leave it. If it doesn't, you sould probably change i...
