Earplugs for conerts?
Yeah Matt8268, I concure as well. The old "tear off a piece of napkin" thing has been saving my ears for years as well! THE ABSOLUTE BEST ADVICE I EVER GOT WAS FROM BOTH MY DAD AND A FELLOW AUDIO ASSOCIATE, IN REGARDS TO PROTECTING MY HEARING! I l...
What is best Subwoofer for Vienna Ac Beethovens
Earthquake MKIV 12" sub or even 15' isn't "so large". I also like the M&K's for speed, musicality, and transient impact! These are my personal chioces for HT/music sellection. There's a lot that would work very well out there. But the key is i...
Size Matters
Actually bookshelf, or monitor speakers would work excellently with good woofer sellection, integration, and set-up! With HT, you're going to configure the mains(and all speakers) as "small" anyway, and the subs will handle the bass. The monitors ...
Best Speakers Close to Walls
"musikat" is mistaken about his assumption that "speakers wiht ports in the front" will work better closer to walls! The usually difference in acoustic space is "NEGLIGABLE" and usually fairly insignifican't to the frequencies that are applicble! ...
Speakers that sound like Thiels on steroids.
Obviously people don't read so well...because speakers that "jazzdude" mentioned which HE WAS NOT INTERSTED IN INCLUDED REVELS(SALONS/STUDIOS)!!!!. So why are people recommending he consider those???!"jazzdude", I think with those SPL's you're aft...
Merlin VSM - Are they in the real top league ?
First of all, let me say that there is no perfect speaker out there...and likely will never be! All speakers have trade-offs and imperfections. I do think, in the right room, with the right gear and set up, you could make the Merlins sound about a...
Home Theater processor opinions
"elevick"...what have you compared the Anthem AVM20 and AVM2 to personally? I haven't any experience with those, but have been currious what they compare to sonically....
Filling my speaker stands to weigh it down?
I invested in about $200 in lead shot to keep for a long time! IF I ever sell stands, i just empty the shot into the next pair of stands. It's worth the investment to me.
alternatives to spikes on wood floors?
Yeah, I prefer "Lovan's" little metal discs with indentation in the middle! You can put some sort of sorbothane rubber on the bottom for "adhesion". At any rate, it seems to work well
Outlaw 1050 vs. Onkyo SR600
I don't believe that the values pressented by "sean" are correct on these receivers! When a rating of 8ohms is given as, say, 100w/ch, then you'll always tend to find a 4ohm rating for the same receiver(or amp) as AT LEAST a little higher into low...

well you have all uper price range gear, so I guess reasonably priced would be relative. Do you need Pro Logic II or THX ultra2 processing? Or is that not included in your statement "latest technologies"?Do you need "pure analog bypass inputs", an...
Outlaw 1050 vs. Onkyo SR600
Yeah, I like the sound of the Onkyo's for receivers at various price ranges overall(with most speaker chioces). But for the money, the Outlaw probably wins out over the ONkyo SR600. The SR600 is a bit "lightweight" compared to the model above it i...
Room setup with watt puppy 6
OH!...and in regards to the comment "Mzn50" made about contacting your local "Wilson dealer" for help in properly setting up your speakers for you, may I suggest that this LIKELY ISN'T going to be your best bet! Infact, you might know more than th...
Room setup with watt puppy 6
HOGWASH!!!! Speaker placment with those speakers is NO DIFFERENT than with any other conventional ported design!!! Dipoles might cause some tricky phase cancelation challenges in proper room possitioning over conventional radiators, but that's abo...
Beyond Sharp XV-Z9000U projector ?
I just came back from the CES show, and was most impressed by a great many of the projectors I saw, and mostly the HD2 offerings!. The Black/contrast level of these units(don't care what any of the diehard videophile CRT proponents say) was FAR MO...
