B&K Ref 50 Processor
You know "it's all good really", when it comes to this audio video stuff. Yeah "some's better than others" when it comes to gear. But I just don't see it or hear it when it comes to this B&K gear! I just don't like the sound I hear from these ...
Should I take out my AR-16 tube pre amp from HT?
The only way things could potentially sound any better for 2 channel CD sources, VCR, etc, would be if the DAC's in your CD player(do you have one?..or are you only using your DVD player for CD's?) aren't so good as the ones in your Sunfire! If th...
How would the Merlin VSM's sound for HomeTheater?
While I dissagree with "Rhyno's" analogy regarding these VSM's for HT applications, I think I might be of some assistance with comments......I've had the Merlins, as well as the very very similar performing SF Electa Amators over the years. I am a...
"Polyamping" A Look to the Future or Fancy Fad?
while I am DEFINITELY an advocate of speaker manufacutes offereing ACTIVE multi amp designs for speakers, I must say it's going to have to be realtively intuitive and straight foreward for it to be so successful I think! DIY kits will have limited...
Speaker/Room help needed
Ah yes!...for anyone who still holds to the belief that the secret to good, great, even excellent to world class sound reproduction from an audio system lies in the gear ONLY, please take note!...it doesn't. The room/set-up/acoustics/calibration/t...
why go against REL setup recommendation?
I would like to add my perosonal "Summiko trainning" experience with all interested here, regarding proper speaker/sub placment proceedures.......Let me just say that I've personally had the expeirce of being instructed by Summiko regarding proper...
Integrated amp instead of pre+power ? Good idea?
Well I'm not familiar with your speakers unfortunately, so I can't give any concrete suggestions for matches regarding integrateds(as far as power and sonic signature goes). Still, I've heard a lot of high end integrateds that have come down the p...
Any surround better than none at all?
Your comment requesting us Audiogon users to "be gentle" is not so far from the mark I suppose! The audiophile breed is amoung the most critical on the planet it appears! (no toys to play with when we were kids...)Anyway, my suggestions would be t...
Line level or speaker level, scientific reasons? ?
Yeah my experience with Rel's is that they do seem to work best in parallel from the speaker level connections off the amp(speakers, whatever). Hey, if it works, don't mess with it, ey?!!
Robert Harleys RT60 equation does not work
Yeah, you screwed up the equation somehow. You might have messed up the Sabines/Absorbtion Co-efficient thing likely. The "Sa" part of the equation is better described in F.Alton Everest Master Handbook of Acousics. It works perfect for me every t...
B&W 804: Is B&W a speaker for pop/rock?
Again, the only way you'll know for sure, for your tastes, with your sellection of music, at your volume levels, in your room, IS TO TRY EM AND FIND OUT!! You'll otherwise just keep guessing. My feeling, as someone who has lots of experience with t...
Line level or speaker level, scientific reasons? ?
for the majority of SANE LEVEL as well as average music material you're likely to listen to, you're MOSTLY better off running full range to your speakers(for music) as well as to the sub...basically running them both in paralell off the speaker/am...
what's the best "mini monior" these days
You know I know of NO ONE IN my are of the US that sells ATC speakers! I would like to hear some of these models sometime. I'm currious. I know ATC makes some excellent active speakers in the mega buck range, but would like to hear the rest of the...
Sonus Faber Grand Piano Home vs. B&W CDM9NT's
The Grand Piano's are probably a bit more refined, but also a bit more laid back and mellow! If you like rock, or do ever do HT with em, the B&W's seem to do better in the pressence reigion. Both are excellent speakers, with the B&W's havi...
what's the best "mini monior" these days
I believe the Joseph RM25si's are floor standers...? I could be wrong. I think the RM7si's are mini monitors. I think they were also joint Stereophile speaker of the year. I've not heard them, but Joseph Audio's stuff is always superb sounding. Fo...
