Opinions on Bryston- Anthem combo Why are you "starting to get nervous"? If you don't like the sound, then move to another piece!..not a big deal really. If anyone thinks they're going to get "the sound to end all sound" in one stroke, they're sadly mistaken...and I think they are...
Can I get better sound? My experiences thus far is that using some sort of a crossover for your mains will likely degrade the overall sonic purity somewhat. It usually tends to sound better, at least with most kinds of not too dynamically demanding sources of music, if y...
Silverline?Thiels? Audio Physic?: Need guidance I've sold both the Audio Physic and Thiel line in the past. I would call neither the Virgo's nor the 2.3's(current drivers) bright at all! Yes they're on the edge of refinement(as are all more accurate high end speakers IMO), and could sound eithe...
Anyone heard outstanding sub/sat combinations? Actually, there's a vast amount of possiblities in sub/sat combo's that can sound fatastic! The trick is obviously you need some excellent sounding monitors and a worthy sub(there are lots of both out there) as a foundation. But then, just as, or ...
CES 2003: Which products impressed you? To "amend" my last post on this topic, I think I mistakenly discussed the "Seleco" brand DLP as being very impressive. aCTUALLY, I believe I ment the Sim300 DLP projector. I think that's the one I saw for like $12k or something new. It was VERRRRR...
Is the Dunlavy SC-3A's a good speaker for HT? Actuall "Rap", there's a RATHER LARGE difference between the Cantata's and the SCIII's(which is, first, what I was refering to in regards to setting as "small"). The Cantata's, I beilive, have a much bigger bass driver on the bottom of the speaker...
CES 2003: Which products impressed you? BY FAR, the VIDEO equipment was the most exciting at the show!!!....AND I'M A DIEHARD AUDIPHILE!!! As fun as it is to hear all the audio systems at the show, i must admit that the video projectors, scalers, HD decoders, video software, screens, vi...
Revel Ultima Salons front and NHT 2.9 rear? Don't even think about it. They are different sounding speakers. Get the matching REvel speakers and be done with it. Anyting else is cutting yourself short I think. Good luck
Which speaker would sound better for me? As good as the 3.3's are(although like all other lower sensitivity designs,86db, they are dynamically less nimble than higher efficiency designs by themselves), I think the Stereophile review of these two designs summed it up. The stated that, as ...
Ok, beating the dead horse AGAIN Suggestions? Ok how about other equipment your using(i.e., speakers, cd player, interconnects, etc.)? Also, what's your budget? I like tube preamps myself largely, unless your using a passive preamp for low dynamic/highly transparant needs. Otherw...
Pass Labs Service YEP. Peter at Pass is the man! He sent me replacment nobs for free for my Pass Aleph L. No questions asked. That's service. PASS LABS RULES THE WORLD OF SOLID STATE!
Best Amp & Pre-amp combo for under $2000 ??? Are you just using 2 speakers for both HT and music?Well for a simple practical "solid state" solution, you'll not go wrong with the Parasound amps on those! A good classe SSP25 or 30 pre/pro, and you'd be set IMO. I've sold the Def tech's for som...
Best speaker cables for Martin Logan This may sound wrong to you, but I've sold Logan's for years, and have tried everything from Audioquest's latest, to Harmonic Tech, to Transparant, to Ocos, MIT, to Acoustic Zen, you name it! The best thing I've found to work best with them thus f...
Pro & Con: side firing subwoofers.... Actually, quite the contrary! in a small room, a sidefiring woofer is going to be easier to place with more flexibility...something you desperately need in small room acoustic space. Small rooms are very difficult to achieve "flat frequency respon...
AragonStageOne? Other processors? Bass Management? The answer to you quesition about recommending a pre/pro would depend on the rest of your gear, plus your system needs! Do you need a pre/pro that does 7.1 or has DVDA processing capabilities from a digital in, 24/196 dac's, whatever? Also, are yo... |
