A warm DAC?
bo1972  Patricia Barber, Diana Krall recordings-YUK!  I heard that Lumin makes very fine DAC streamers but if it were based on those recordings, I couldn't trust it.  Try some 50's-60's jazz or classical (or even pop that was well recorded and m...
Speaker upgrade around 100k retail
What do you mean by void mirror image designs?  If you mean avoid, the Lansche looks like a mirror image (top and bottom) around a central tweeter.

My choice is either a used half price pair of Von Schweikert Ultra 9s (I've heard the Ultra 11s-1/2 the size, perfect for your room) or 55 Aktive Ultras.
My #@%$ Cat Destroyed My ARC REF 5SE. Soliciting Suggestions.
anzaanimalclinic Can you tell me why one of our cats (smaller one) enjoys peeing in our bathroom sinks occasionally?  We've had cats for 35 years and this (intelligent) cat does this once every two weeks.   I suspect she sees us using the sink and...

Have your audio equipment listed under scheduled property as a separate  part of your homeowners policy.   Also, insurance policies vary from HO3 to HO5+, the former is comparable to having the minimal auto insurance and the latter, the highest li...
You know you are an Audiophile when:
You have a dedicated audio room. Absolutely, with audio engineered construction at $500/sq ft.Your listening chair is in the “Sweet Spot”.  Not really, three sweet seated sweet spots.  I dislike head in a vise sound.  Maybe four sweet spots. You ...
Footers under my speakers double the perceived value of my speakers!
I use several types of Stillpoints most of my equipment. My new DAC does not sound good (hard or unfocused) with Stillpoints, cones or vibrapod type footers. It was designed with vibration in mind. My amps, 2 pre-amps/phono preamp, analog speed co...
Footers under my speakers double the perceived value of my speakers!
I live in earthquake country.  Putting ultra-minis under 200 lb speakers does not seem wise for my speakers.  My 185 lb speakers rest on four widely spaces metal cones into a 12" thick 3000 lb PSI steel reinforced slab.  Vibration is not a concern...
Anybody want a laugh?
I second millercarbon's opinion on HFTs.  I have installed 32 of them, 3 types.   Five levels plus 5 per speaker (tweeter HFTs are a fail on my speakers).  The most important HFT is the side speaker ones with 1/8" change radically changes the freq...
Will a $700 turntable outperform a CD player?
Yes, an inexpensive, well built turntable can outperform many CD players (especially the 40 or 50 I tried from it's inception to 2005).  I have found that modern CD players, and; in particular, recent DACs with separate transports with well master...
Why Don't More People Into Music Reproduction At Home Play Around With Musical Instruments
I play piano (not well) and have sung in multiple city choirs for the past 47 years.  I sight read and have excellent singers pitch.  I am a part time recording engineer for a symphony, chamber group and multiple choirs.   I prefer following score...
Are these Speakers the BEST on Planet Earth ?...
Correction-Focus has 3-12" woofers per speaker.
Are these Speakers the BEST on Planet Earth ?...
@douglas_schroeder  One of the concerns about my possible purchase of the Von Schweikert VR55s was the height and number/size of the woofers. Can this speaker have great dynamic bass with 2-8" woofers, effortless and scale as my current speaker...
Should people with no turntable or reel to reel be considered audiophiles?
Sokohgear I've been accused because of the extent I have labored to acquire a  high end system.  It's a putdown of my hobby.  It probably happens to all hobbyists.  Grado has made quite a few high end and mid-fi moving iron cartridges.  I've hea...
A warm DAC?
I don't know what warm sound is unless you want 2nd order distortion versus odd order distortion which sounds brighter.  As to a neutral but very full sounding DAC, I can recommend the COS Engineering D1.  Their H-1 is more open but much less full...
