Neil Young/ CSN new vinyl releases
I went for the Neil: Everybody Knows this is Nowwhere, and the new David Crosby pressed at Pallas also. I think the David Crosby is a safe bet, as the Classic had a bunch ofpositive reviews/feedback. I think the original recording was just very go...
Tips on Buying Quiet Quality sounding LP's
"i agree with bob. when buying used vinyl at stores in my area, i can listen to the record with head phones. then i can at least gauge whether there is surface noise."I concur. I bring decent Shure Earbuds with me, which helps a little over the on...
Neil Young/ CSN new vinyl releases
Indeed, slated for Dec 1st release is the 180 gr 4LP box. This info was from Because Sound Matters, $150.00. So it's either $23.oo for the 140gr vinyl individually, or you pay $37.50 X 4LP's for the box. I wonder if the 180gr will be released indi...
Neil Young/ CSN new vinyl releases
Ahh- a box set. I was not aware that there was one on it's way. I will research it. I wonder if it contains the same four albums. I may just go ahead and order at least one of these though. Jfech, I believe these were actually 180gr though. I will...
Vandersteen 5A dynamics and bass response.
My experience is that the VTL 750 amps with the 5A is not a synergistic match. It is slow and dark sounding IMO, and simply does not work. I really like the Quicksilver V4 on the 5A. Take this with a grain of salt, because I have not heard the VTL...
Verity Audio midrange drivers?
"No. Tweeters are not that important in the scheme of things. Midrange and bass drivers are much more important".I won't be as bold as to disagree. IMO, at the 16K price point, there should be excellent drivers throughout. I have no doubt that Ver...
What amplifier for Harbeth HL-5?
Ggavetti, just wondering what you ended up doing for an amp w/ your Harbeth's. Did you stay w/ the EAR amp/Shindo preamp or go in another direction.
Pass Labs and DeVore Nines Combo??
What is your current setup. Do you have the Pass gear now, and looking for a speaker to match. I have heard the Pass, but in a different setup. I think it was the X150.5 or 250.5. I would not think this to be a good match w/ the DeVore's. This, IM...
Pass Labs and DeVore Nines Combo??
I am using a DK Design INT temporarily w/ my Nines. It is really cruising along w/o breaking a sweat. It doesn't sound very involving, but does not sound offensive either. Actually, a temporary solution I can live with. The Nines will IMO expose a...
Favourite Vinyl female and male vocals
I just got turned on to Irene Krall. She has a great voice and great sound on vinyl. This is available on Pure Pleasure. Not sure on the title, but it is her only one on PP. I saw it available on either Music Direct or Acoustic Sounds. A couple of...
Amplifier for Audio Physics Virgo II
Yslee , thanks for the reply. I am quite sure others could clarify. Perhaps no one is because it really does not apply to your original post. I could certainly understand if that is the case. It's not a big deal , so it wouldn't make sense to post...
Amplifier for Audio Physics Virgo II
What type of tweeter did AP employ in the Virgo ll.Just curious if it was a metal or soft dome.
Avalon Eidolen VS Porac D80 or B&W 802D
Not sure if the Rockport Ankaa falls in the Eidolon price range. If it does, that is another to consider. I also have not been a fan of the specific ceramic driver speakers which I have heard. Avalon was not one of them. I had the Eclipse with a C...
Speaker Recommendations for VAC Ren 30/30 Mk III
Congrats on your purchase. The first speakers that come to mind are the DeVore Nines, and Verity Finns. They are both 91db and I think both have a pretty flat impedance. They are in the mid 6K range. I wasn't sure about your price range. I am sure...
Wilson Sophia 2--- VTL S-150 or Ayre V1-xe?
VTL also still produces the little MB-125's. These mono's use the EL-34's , where as the ST-150 uses 6550's. The 125's may have the same power, and the Wilson may really sing w/ the EL-34. BTW, their prices are close, $5000 I believe. FWIW, the 12...
