Receiver Rotel? and Speakers Maggies? for HT?
Frank, the Otlaw processor has about as flexible a bass management system as there is! See review from SGTHT mag bellow:..."The 950's speaker-configuration options are unusually flexible for a product costing under $1000, and extraordinarily simpl...
Sonus Faber Grand Pianos vs. Thiel 1.6's
I've sold both the Theil and Sonus faber lines. I find I do like both those speakers. I do like the 1.6's overall, and think they are a tremendous speaker at the price range, or any! I'd chose those first. Both however have their strenght of clari...
Hafler 9500 vs Bryston 4bsst Class Rating B vs A
Personally, as someone who's sold Lexicon/Bryston(same gear) over the years, I don't think any of the Bryston amps/pre's are anything special really. Someone got paid big bucks to put the 7B and 9B in "Class A"!...that's all Im sayin. Sold/owned/h...
What speakers to replace Paradigm 100.2? Help
You can consider the Sonus Faber Grand Piano's. The most Neutral in the lower priced bunch from Sonus.
Receiver Rotel? and Speakers Maggies? for HT?
The outlaw separates at $700 for the pre/pro and $900 for the 7x100 watt(strong) amp is an infinitely better solution than ANY RECEIVER!...especially considering you doin Maggies. You won't be driving maggies with any $1000 receiver any time soon ...
Tube power vs Solid state power, how much is enoug
The basic deal is about half the tube watts vs SS watts for control/Clipping on the speakers. If your speakers Clip at 100w with a strong SS amp(not cheezy piece), you can figure clipping at about the same output with a 50watt tube amp, or thereab...
Speakers for loud listening. really loud...
Yeah you're going to have to go with much more sensitive speakers, active speakers, or do serious bass management crossed over to powered subwoofer(s)! The last is a good quick try for your. Add a subwoofer, an AV pre/pro, do bass managment, and t...
Pass x-350 and Dunlavy SC-IVa - what speaker cable
Have sold both over the years. What's your gear? There are lots of great cables out there, and synergy will be the key. I'd probably play around with a few to compare. I'd recommend considering trying ABOVE Audio Quest Caldera, Harmonic Pro 11 (ma...
Why dual subwoofers ?
Mostly the above said is not really a good assesment of the Pro's and Con's.Adding more subs(in this case two) can increase the obvious dyanmic range of a system, by adding more bass to the room potentially. At the very least, you can run two subs...
What speakers to replace Paradigm 100.2? Help
Confused now? I"m sure others will add their 2 cents.Still, the ones you have "freshest on your mind" should be what you try. Otherwise, you'll never know. Try something and compare....you can always sell later
Which surr/proc to go w/ Krell & Thiels?
Hummmmm...I like the krell pre/pro's, very much actually. I used to sell Thiel set up with Krell KAV250 amps and HTS processor. While the sound was very detailed and clear, some might think the trebble "walks the line" pretty thin, or close. Taste...
What speakers to replace Paradigm 100.2? Help
So pick up a pair of used Merlin VSM's. Much better resolution and refinement, smaller (but with BAM), attractive. At least many people chose these at the show for their compactness, ease of transportation, transparancy, resolution, and they just ...
How much have sub-woofers changed over the years?
Honstly, if you are serious about improving your system, I'm most certain there are better ways than simply focusing on possibly upgrading your subwoofer. For instance you use B&W nautius speakers. Which ones? Regardless of which they are howev...
state of the art home theatre....
Ok so what are you thinking now Phasecorrect? After the input, what have you gathered, or what dirrection are you thinking you're headed?
How much have sub-woofers changed over the years?
The Rel is a tighter more musical sub, yes. I've sold both retail over the years. However, placement, setup, calibration and tweeking is going to amount to FAR FAR MORE than simply weighing one sub over another in this case. Personally, I like the...
