Well, all I can say is there a body of postings on different forums that claim the 1200 is Stevenson.And here it isn't.Hence my confusion - and humble curiosity to something definitive from the actual 1200 specifications.

So, you are saying that companies don't innovate anymore, use cheap parts, and prices should solely be based on the cost of parts used?

You could use black felt 'cushions' on the cabinet corners under the zipties to protect the finish - better that than a toppled speaker.

I use zip ties as a 'band' around the sides and tops of my speakers to the stands.You could also try a continuous/double sided strip of colored velcro to try to match the color/finish of the cabinets. 
Blu Ray Vs Sky/ Streaming
My suspicions are that cable/satellite providers 'cheat' to cram more channels by reducing data rates.That results in macroblocking and subpar picture/sound quality. 
Why has amplifier power become a big issue
It's always been an issue.I burned up my share of tweeters in the 70's with an uninformed mis-match of inefficient low impedance speakers, low powered receivers, and a desire to have Who concert levels in my listening space.

My 2cents worth as I run the CDM1NT for fronts, but use the CDMSE for my center in a hybrid HT/Music setup.The CDM1NTs will give you more detail/resolution - which I like.The CDM1SE will be a bit more 'relaxed' on top.I drive my 1NTs with a Musica...

Recos for entry level Bookshelf speaker $400-750 for 21yo nieces first system?
Polk RTiA1 would be a nice entry level choice.  Small, easy to drive, and the powerport allows for placement close to/on wall.Can be had new or via Polk's ebay direct site refurbished (with warranty) for less.Great customer service.
