Why are Harbeth speakers expensive while its drivers are not.
As a former engineer, I worked on my share of proposals writing both tech sections and working on the cost bidding. The price for a 'thing' needs to include the time to pay for the design, prototyping, testing, quality assurance, documentation- all...
Technics SL1200: standard overhang gauge or MintLP
@chakster I was referring to the SL1200mkII - which I have.I’ve not tried any other alignment other than that using the overhang tool as I’ve read elsewhere that the mkII is designed/aligned for Stevenson, and any other alignment requires a non-OE...
25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago. What does it mean?
Which HD download did the OP pick of Chicago II?There is a new/just released 2017 remastering by Steve Wilson that is supposed to be 'da bomb'.
Technics SL1200: standard overhang gauge or MintLP
Well, all I can say is there a body of postings on different forums that claim the 1200 is Stevenson. And here it isn't.Hence my confusion - and humble curiosity to something definitive from the actual 1200 specifications.

Chakster said" Their own plastic alignment tool (if you mean this one) is not Stevenson..."I’ve read elsewhere that the Technics SL1200 and OEM headshell *was* designed for Stevenson alignment. If not, what is your take on what alignment it was **d...
Price increase
So, you are saying that companies don't innovate anymore, use cheap parts, and prices should solely be based on the cost of parts used?

Securing Monitors to a stand
You could use black felt 'cushions' on the cabinet corners under the zipties to protect the finish - better that than a toppled speaker.
Securing Monitors to a stand
I use zip ties as a 'band' around the sides and tops of my speakers to the stands. You could also try a continuous/double sided strip of colored velcro to try to match the color/finish of the cabinets.
Blu Ray Vs Sky/ Streaming
My suspicions are that cable/satellite providers 'cheat' to cram more channels by reducing data rates. That results in macroblocking and subpar picture/sound quality.
Why has amplifier power become a big issue
It's always been an issue.I burned up my share of tweeters in the 70's with an uninformed mis-match of inefficient low impedance speakers, low powered receivers, and a desire to have Who concert levels in my listening space.

B&W Cdm.1nt Or The Cdm.1se
My 2cents worth as I run the CDM1NT for fronts, but use the CDMSE for my center in a hybrid HT/Music setup. The CDM1NTs will give you more detail/resolution - which I like. The CDM1SE will be a bit more 'relaxed' on top.I drive my 1NTs with a Musica...
